What NOT To Do In A Fight / Period III / Week 13 (Atreides/Deadpool)

"One myth of combat that seems to persevere no matter what, is that there is some way a fight can be civilized," Ghanima stated.

"Like, you know, not hitting a chick when she's tryin' to kill you because apparently they're weaker or something. I got my ass kicked by Squirrel Girl. But then again, so did Thanos and Doom. So I feel comfortable with that," Deadpool added. "Another thing is acting like a gentleman in a fight. Which is just the dumbest thing you can do because they're gonna kill your ass, not just wait around for you to follow the rules."

"People seem to think that there are certain rules, unwritten or otherwise, that dictate how a battle can be waged," she agreed. "My universe has rules of engagement about assassination and the fighting between the Great Houses. In reality? We all cheat."

"Or some places have societal rules about how men shouldn't hit women, which is true - no one should hit anyone out of anger - but the idea that only a female can take on another female is ridiculous. In a fight, you fight to win, not for honor."

Deadpool just had to add, "...but chick fights are hot."

He knew Ghanima was going to hit him upside the head for that, right? Right.

And she knew he would smack her ass back, right? Right. "So, all you little feebs are gonna talk to each other about times when you've didn't fight by the rules and or fought a girl. Yes, both genders have to talk about it."

That pun was sort of obligatory, wasn't it?

"Well, it is your job," Kennedy pointed out. Or was his job, past tense? "I mean, you got all educated on how to teach girls to kick ass, so it's not like it's a surprise we're capable of it."

Hush. She had a while to go before she got to watch the disillusioning creepy shadow-puppet play and found out the whole arrangement had started with less than noble intentions.

Ah, the shadow puppet play. Not to worry, Kennedy -- Wes hadn't seen the play either. It was one of those things they neglected to mention in favor of teaching those impressionable young Watchers to love their jobs.

"Well, true," he agreed, grinning now. "I suppose there's really no way for me to take the men's side of this discussion, hmm?"

Also it was, for the time being, conveniently locked away in a bag along with a collection of Slayer-related artifacts that would quite possibly mysteriously start to exist when someone needed a plot device.

"You could say that." She leaned back in her chair. "Or you could just say you're more clued in than a lot of guys. I'd go with that one. It sounds kinda impressive."

Hey, don't knock the mysteriously-starting-to-exist thing. After all, Potentials were one of those things, weren't they?

"I'll make sure to say that," Wesley laughed. "In case anyone asks."

...oh, yeah. Good point, that.

"So, I gotta ask," Kennedy barged on. "What's the official Council stance on fighting dirty, and how much do we even care about it?"

She never got a good answer to that out of Constance, so she might as well try a new source...

Huh. Well... that was an interesting question. Huh.

"I believe, generally speaking, it's acceptable," Wes ventured. "It's vampires, after all. But it's not something we really learned much about at the Academy." He tilted his head, considering. "My guess would be that policy allows for whatever's necessary."

"Our world's vampires and demons," Kennedy clarified quickly-- and a little loudly, since she had friends who fell under both columns, some of them possibly within earshot. "Not to blanket-statement everyone. Um."

"Oh, of course," Wesley hastened to say. "I mean. Our world's vampires and demons. Certainly."

Awkward.

"But, er, yes. Fighting dirty."

Kennedy grinned in that I have an awesome idea and by awesome I mean you should worry kind of way.

"Sweet. Thanks for clearing that up."
