The Library Is Still Closed (Sort Of)

Janet is sitting, alone, in the library, with a very determined expression on her face. Books are spread out across all the desks as she sorts them for re-shelving, and the toppled bookshelf (or two) from yesterday has not been righted yet.

She may have, however, forgotten to lock the door.


OOC: In other words, the library is technically closed, but the room is open for interaction and people to come and try to find out what happened.

Janet stayed standing as she watched the Doctor's reactions. She leaned her back against the wall opposite him, her arms crossed. "I was coming in early to take care of some of the cataloging and there was a lightning storm. Instead of running away, I ran into the library."

She paused and pursed her lips. "I have a tendency to do that sort of thing. Very stupid of me. When I walked into the library, there was Adam standing over the headless body of an eleven year old boy."

There was a lightning storm and you didn't leave. [He smiles slightly at her.] Once more into the breach, Ms Fraiser. Can't say I'm any diff--

[The rest of it hits him and his jaw drops.] The what now?

Janet sighs. "I had the same reaction." She shakes her head. "It wasn't an eleven year old boy. Something else, I'm not sure what.. I'd just started getting the details, when--" She mimes bouncing a ball. "Rover. Weapons ban."

[The scene must have been grisly. The Doctor mentally applauds Janet for not completely flipping out.] It wasn't an eleven year old boy... [He muses.] Ms Fraiser...could the child have been blond?

[The scent of the room, of Old Books and Older Man, is starting to wear on him, just a little.]

Janet winces. "I didn't get a really good look at the hair," she says. "But yeah, I suppose maybe. Why?"

Janet shrugs. "He's a pain in the ass sometimes, but when you get past that, he's a nice guy. Speaks a bunch of languages."

"Apparently he's a lot older than he looks."

[The Doctor nods. The story's not his to tell.] Okay. So you said Rover has him?

"Yep," says Janet. She's fairly sure they both know what's going on, but she'd really rather not take the chance. Yes, Janet, let's try not to abuse the librarian's trust, thank you. "I'm presuming he has to talk to the Dean next."

[He shakes his head.] God help him. Don't they put people in a closet until...oh, shite, it's Friday, isn't it?

"No one's letting him out until Monday?" asked Janet disbelievingly. She rolled her eyes. "That's ridiculous. He'll be awfully hungry and thirsty by then--not to mention incredibly irritable." She hoped they at least kept bottles of water in that closet.

I think they keep it stocked, foodwise. Might even be a bathroom. [He hoped so. Otherwise...ew.] He'll be fine, just probably a bit cramped. I mean, it can't KILL him, for chrissake.

"Good," said Janet. "But I personally hope never to find out first hand what the Dean's closet is like. It wouldn't kill any normal, healthy adult male, for that matter."
