The Library Is Still Closed (Sort Of)

Janet is sitting, alone, in the library, with a very determined expression on her face. Books are spread out across all the desks as she sorts them for re-shelving, and the toppled bookshelf (or two) from yesterday has not been righted yet.

She may have, however, forgotten to lock the door.


OOC: In other words, the library is technically closed, but the room is open for interaction and people to come and try to find out what happened.

Lee opens the door and looks in. "Hey Janet -- what's going on here?"

Elizabeth looks past Lee. "Uh, yeah, I second that question."

"I'm reshelving the books that were knocked down yesterday," says Janet. "Actually, I'm sorting them for reshelving."

"Do you need help?" Lee asks.

"Apparently there was a freak electrical storm in the library early yesterday morning," said Janet, frantically tryin. "I saw the tail end of it, and then spent half of yesterday cleaning up in here."

Elizabeth moved to dump her bag by one of the desks. "Okay, what needs doing"

"The books are mostly sorted," said Janet. "Could you help me get the bookshelves back upright, though? It's only a couple."

"Not a problem," Elizabeth replied, moving to the nearest one.

"Sure thing, Janet!" Lee says helpfully and flexes his awesome arms as he manuvers the bookshelves back into place and refits the shelves that fell out.

Janet helps with this, staring at the arm-flexing and making sure that no one throws out their back.

"Thanks, guys," she says. "I wasn't looking forward to that. Can I get you to help me out with putting the books on the shelves?"

"Sure," Lee says not breaking a sweat. "Just tell me where to put what book where."

"Not a problem. It's typical that this happens with both Zero and Parker MIA. And apparently, the librarian too," Elizabeth adds, after looking around the library.

Charlie stuck in his head in the door, hoping to catch Janet. "Hey Janet. You got a sec? Just got a question."

"That table," says Janet, pointing at one off to the left. "Goes on the first bookshelf. I've got them in rows based on the order they needs to go in."

Oh, well. It's better than the zombie weekend cleanup.

"Yeah, we're down to just me today, so I really appreciate the help, guys," says Janet. She goes to find the ladder and a book cart.

Lee is helpful, omg, and smiles charmingly at the girls.

"Of course," said Janet, putting down the books she'd been carrying and turning toward the door. "What do you need?"

[The Doctor can still smell smoke as he leaves his office. It's almost imperceptible, but it's definitely there...he gets a sinking feeling in his hearts as he follows the scent to the library.

The door, amazingly, is unlocked. He peers around the corner.]

He lowered his voice. "Do you know anyone who's good at math that might consider tutoring me? I kinda had a blank in class today that made me realize I haven't done some of this stuff for over 20 years." He looked a little uncomfortable.

"Hey, it's not a problem," Elizabeth replies. "It's not like I'm doing much else today."

"Oh, lots of people," said Janet, keeping her tone upbeat. "I could, or Sam. Maybe John? Crichton, I mean. I heard from Sam that Shep is good at math too."

"This sounds stupid, but I don't want to look stupid to people. So Shep's out. It's the whole manly competition thing. Would you consider tutoring me? I mean, you already know how dumb I can be, so I don't feel weird about it. But if you've got too much on, I can go ask someone else."
