The Library Is Still Closed (Sort Of)

Janet is sitting, alone, in the library, with a very determined expression on her face. Books are spread out across all the desks as she sorts them for re-shelving, and the toppled bookshelf (or two) from yesterday has not been righted yet.

She may have, however, forgotten to lock the door.


OOC: In other words, the library is technically closed, but the room is open for interaction and people to come and try to find out what happened.

Janet takes a deep breath. "Freak electrical storm," she says. "Yesterday morning." She glances around. "It's mostly cleaned up by now."

Parker just shakes her head. "Around this place, if I don't believe it, it will *kill* me. Freak electrical storm noted." She picked up a few books and began to reshelve them. "Where is our Fearless Leader when we need help with this? He always skates out."

"And sometimes even if you do believe it, it'll kill you."

Rover picked him up for violating the weapons ban and killing the thousand year old child that was going to kill him otherwise.

Janet doesn't say that. "Sloughing all the hard work off on us, of course." She sighs. "Lee and Liz were in earlier, but Liz had afternoon classes and Lee was glaring at Anders with a lot of subtext involved so he got caught up in the macho posing and forgot about shelving."

"Typical." They should just kiss and get it over with, damnit. I have $5 riding on it. "But nice of them to at least try. With Zero missing..." Parker bites her lip, and then forges ahead. "I'm sorry you got stuck with this while I was sick. I'd have gotten a few minions down here, had I known." She rolls her eyes. "Dr. Pierson should be bringing *us* coffee, damnit. Except I can't drink that any more."

"We'll make him bring you hot chocolate instead," said Janet. "I hope Zero gets back soon." She frowns down at the pile of books. One of them was older than she'd initially thought. "This should probably be in the research section." Janet flipped it over and looked at the symbol on the cover, then opened the book. It was written in Ancient Greek. "Neat," she said, skimming the first few lines. "Maybe I can use this for a class project or something."

Janet frowned. "Let's lock this thing up and get out of here," she said. "It's almost done anyway."

Parker looked over her shoulder, and raised an eyebrow. "Maybe Liz could translate it, since she's taking Classics. Weird symbol." She shrugs. "Allright, let's go. Should we leave the sign up, so no one comes in here this weekend? I don't think the parents would be too impressed by all this."

"Nah, Sam, Jack, and I are the ones in Classics. I blame Daniel," says Janet. "Liz already speaks fluent Russian. Don't know what the symbol is. Kind of pretty, though."

"Good idea. I'll stick up a fancier-looking sign. Also, then we can escape in here when we need to get away."

"Yes, because it's *always* Dr. Jackson's fault." Parker grinned. "And yeah, an escape hatch would be good."

"Everything is Daniel's fault, if you look back far enough," said Janet. "No one told you about that?"

"So are you not looking forward to your Parents Weekend visitors?"

"No, no one told me about that. I'll have to mention it, see how well he denies it. Heh." Parker stacked a few more books out of the way. "And yes, I haven't seen my dad since the beginning of summer, and I haven't seen Sydney since Christmas. This is going to be cool."
