Library [03, 20]

Things had been... quiet, this week. Which certainly seemed like a nice change of pace, so far as Jonothon was concerned. And he really didn't seem to be in any hurry to change that fact, deciding to take things easy today in the library, re-shelving books and dusting.

Now, if only the books would stop un-shelving themselves every time he turned his back to dust.

Sunday meant a Jono in the library which in turn meant a high likelihood of a Raven visiting. She didn't see him at first when she stepped through the door, but she could feel him, so she closed her eyes and sent the feeling of a gentle kiss to him.

Being an empath was so cool sometimes.

Dating an empath certainly had its bonuses, too.

Of course, when those bonuses involved feeling a kiss out of nowhere, suddenly and without any warning whatsoever, on lips that he didn't have, sometimes those bonuses were a touch surprising.

Fortunately, it was only a little stack of books that he dropped on the floor with a start. Raven could probably find him easily, now, just by following the sound of the mass chaos (or at least the loud thud) in the reference section.

//Good day t'you too, luv,// he sent back, as he crouched down to start picking up his mess.

Raven peeked through the stacks, following the sound of said thud until she found him. "I am sorry," she said, though her smile wasn't entirely apologetic. "Did I startle you?"

//If I said 'no,' you'd know I was lying,// Jono replied, stacking up an armload of encyclopedias, setting them aside, and crouching down to gather up a few more.

Of course, the moment his back was turned on the first stack, they decided they were going to try to make a break for it.

"Stop that," Raven scolded the books, moving to intercept them before they could dive off the shelves. "That is not very nice."

These books, at least, felt chastised. She wasn't so sure all the misbehaving books would be.

Really, some of those books had attitude. Try telling some of those biographies that they weren't being nice. So many of them were about revolutionaries.

"Perhaps you should move some of the psychology books around to attempt to make the books that are misbehaving share their feelings to explain why they are acting out," Raven suggested.

The psychology books, however, might be more concerned with discussing why a cigar was sometimes just a cigar. Of course it was a cigar. What else would it be?

Did you really want Jono to explain it to you, Raven? He'd taken that class.

"At least it is not boring?" Raven said, drifting closer for a real hug. "They give you something to do, even if it is somewhat aggravating."

That was sarcasm, but at least it was delivered lightly, while he wrapped his arms around her.

"I was attempting to find a bright side," Raven said, wrinkling her nose before stepping into the hug.

"But you are right, reading would be much preferable to spending time dealing with mischievous books."

"I am well," she said. "Much better than last weekend." A decided lack of creepy touch-feely half-siblings was the main reason for that, yes.

"Good, you're here," Squall greeted her. That meant he wouldn't have to make another trip to find her. "Do you have a moment?"

"Hello, Squall," Raven said, glancing up from the book she'd been studying about the seven deadly sins. "What can I do for you?"

"There's another Sorceress we'll need to fight," Squall told her awkwardly. He didn't like asking for help, but friends weren't just backup soldiers you could request when necessary. "When the time comes, can I count on you?"

"Of course," Raven said without any hesitation. "Anything I can do to help." She didn't like fighting, but she liked danger to her friends even less.

"Is this related to what happened to Rinoa?" she asked.

Squall nodded. "Adel was just a puppet," he explained. "We bought some time, but the real danger hasn't been defeated." It sounded overly melodramatic, but... well, the fate of the world WAS at stake. "Ultimecia exists in the future. We need to figure out how to get to her, first, but then we need to take her out."

"I am able to move between dimensions; perhaps that will be useful in finding her," Raven offered.

The fate of the world was definitely important, but Raven's concern was with Rinoa as well. "How is Rinoa?" she asked. "I have not seen her in a few days. Is she aware of this danger?"

"Very aware," Squall answered. "She's... under a lot of stress. It's probably best not to talk to her about it."

Raven really didn't like the sound of that.

"Is there anything I can do to help her in the meantime?" she asked fretfully. Something that didn't involve talking about it, apparently.

"Certainly," Raven said. "I will seek her out and see if I can distract her from her troubles."

Rumor Gal may have been in repeats, but that didn't mean she couldn't use it to keep Rinoa occupied.
