Adventures, Capers and Escapes - Danger Shop, Thursday, Period 3

The Doctor was waiting outside the Danger Shop for everyone today. As they arrived, he handed them each a red football jersey suited for their size. "Put those on. Football, or soccer, is a sport or a religion on Earth depending on who you're talking to, where on the planet you are and which era you're visiting. You're all going to learn a blatant lesson today about how no matter where you go and what sort of trouble you get yourselves into, there are going to be people who will judge you by how you look rather than what you have to say. The lesson is about why it's wrong, not how to do the same, in case anyone hasn't caught on. Once you have your shirt on, in you go. Mind the locals."

Inside the Danger Shop was a pub. A British pub, actually. It was busy, the beer was flowing, the patrons were largely inebriated and there was a football match on the big screen TVs around the place between the blue-shirted local team and the red-shirted team that the students were now apparently supporters of due to their attire.

Their arrival drew the attention of the blue-shirted supporters, who it seemed didn't take very kindly to the opposition ruining their party.

Cara poked warily at the jersey, it was very...baggy.

Gabrielle frowned at the jersey; it was, well.

Far more fabric than she was used to wearing, unless she was dressed up for one of their bizarre --

Capers. Oh. Right. Well, in that case, it wasn't that strange, even if the fabric felt completely weird once she'd pulled it on over her bilious green sports bra top.

It took Cara about thirty seconds to start a fight, even for her that was oddly quick.

Oh lovely. Helen stood in her red jersey and rolled her eyes. Then she shifted her right hand into a sharpie, and making sure the biggest of the blue jersied group was watching, carefully drew a circle on the front of the shirt and drew a line through it. That got a roar of approval.

Hank gave the room a very sly look, like he was about to do something astoundingly clever, and pulled his bright blue neckerchief out from underneath the red jersey. "Hooray for both teams!!!"

Deep down, Claudia had kind of always wanted to try being a soccer hooligan.

Which would explain why she climbed up on a table and started yelling about how great red was. If only she could find out the name of the actual team. . . .

Elphaba just stared at Claudia.

"What in Ozma's name are you doing?" she said, flabberghasted. That seemed like asking for a fight.

"Experimenting," Claudia said cheerfully. "I wanna see what happens."

"Oh, my God," Roy said, "do you want to die?"

"Please. They're holograms. Woo! Go red, go! Crush the blue team!"

Roy was entirely prepared for a bar brawl if he had to be in one, but he decided to start things off by trying to be placatory. "I," he told everyone glaring at him, "am a stupid, stupid American. I am lost and confused. You should pity me and direct me to wherever the Reds gather, instead of punching me in the face."

Cara was there, complete with a still fading black eye before she got into the fight.

Times like this, Cara missed having Zedd around to speed up her healing. "Nothing important."

Bobby was a terrible bet unless the help needed was of the 'I'm tiny and innocent' sort.

He was currently trying to explain to a girl nearly twice his size why he had accidentally put on red.
