Library [03, 13]

After meeting Raven's siblings yesterday, Jonothon was hell-bent on being entirely productive today in the library.

Productive in that he was going to focus on people that didn't make him want to put a fist through things, and so he was rounding up whatever comic books he could find in the library's collection, in preparation for a possible visit from Bobby's guests. Because the prospect of reading about the Y-People and Ratman to little Leech and Artie was a far more pleasant one than the urge he had to stomp off after Lust, Envy, and Wrath in order to kick the three of them in the--

Oooh, Spider-Ham. The kids would probably enjoy that one.

And, yup, right on schedule there was a Bobby with two excited little boys clinging to either side of him.

"I'll have you know they got me up stupid-early for this," he announced. "I had to explain that no, I'm pretty sure 5am is a bit too early for the library to be open."

Poor little blokes didn't get read to often, did they?

And now Jono wanted even more to feed them cookies and candy and to give them toys. He was doomed.

The teachers at their new school were way too insistent on making them learn to read themselves, something which neither boy had a particularly easy time with.

"You'll be okay hanging out with Jono for a while?" Bobby asked the pair, who nodded vigorosly at him. There were a few people he needed to see at the brunch thing, and it was probably best if the kids weren't around for that. Less headachey.

So with a wave and a reminder of where he'd be when they got hungry (because hi, they were boys, it wasn't a question of if), Bobby headed off to the brunch.

"Ratman?" Leech asked hopefully, eyeing the pile of comics.

And, ever so conveniently, Jono had them sitting nearby and sorted out neatly by story arc. He was nothing if not industrious in his comic book preparations, really.

//But which villain should we read about? Th'Man-Rat? Th' Puzzler? Who d'you want to see brought to justice today, mates?//

That last one just sounded like an odd nickname for STDs, though.

"...girlfriend?" Jubilee asked, giving her a once over that was purely 'unapproving and overprotective friend'. "Did time move here a lot longer or something?"

Raven had a threefold reason for coming by the library that morning. She wanted to make sure her brothers didn't show up to harass Jono more, she wanted to meet Jubilee, and she wanted to see Jono read to Artie and Leech, because the cute factor was needed after dealing with her stupid brothers.

"Hello, Jono," she greeted him with an affectionate smile. "I have not missed storytime, have I? I met Artie and Leech yesterday evening and they said you would be reading to them today."

Because Jono's mun was shamelessly modding time like that. Awww yeah.

"They were very excited," Raven said, drawing closer to give him a hug and a kiss for a proper greeting. "I told them I was unfamiliar with comics and that perhaps I would join them to listen as well."

Because he was thinking the dialogue, he might even be able to switch up the voices here and there, if he tried hard enough.

The jury was out on how well he'd be able to muddle his way through all manner of American accents, though.
