Newspaper Crew Meeting: 16:00 FHS-20:00 FHS

Chloe sits in the Journalism room, her video camera in one hand, and a cup of coffee in the other. She tilts back in her chair, reviewing what's on the video tape as she waits for everyone else to arrive.

"Really?" Angelus put his notebook down, which had the side effect of revealing the drawing he was working on (which Veronica might identify only as a blonde-haired woman who she didn't know). "I'd love to be a part of that. Which teacher was it?"

"It was Professor Cregg who mentioned it. I didn't have a chance to talk to her yet. I'm going to leave her a voicemail after the meeting."

She glances down at the notebook.

"You're an artist?"

"Don't know that I know Prof. Cregg that well," Angelus said. "I'll have to meet her."

He looked down at the drawing. "Oh I don't know that I'd say artist. Dedicated amateur, maybe."

"I know her pretty well, I think. She was... um... pretty nice to me the other day when I... never mind."

She looks at the drawing again.

"I bet you've been to all the famous museums," she says wistfully.

"Pretty much," he agreed. "Though my favorite's the Sistine Chapel, I've got to admit."

She sighs. "I think I'm jealous of your extensive traveling."

Angelus looked at her curiously. "You've never traveled much? I wouldn't have guessed that about you."

She shrugs.

"Never really had the chance. I'm only 18, you know, and there's that pesky school thing," she grins.

"Well there's always my way of seeing the world but I'm guessing you like your heartbeat," Angelus grinned. "Plus I hear they've invented planes now."

Veronica appears to be in deep thought.

"But if I did it your way, I'd get to live forever. Like Fame," she says with a straight face.

After a moment she chuckles. "You're right though, I've grown rather fond of my heartbeat. And I think I've heard of those plane things - great big tin cans that can fly, right?" she asks, adopting a twangy accent.

"I loved that play!" Angelus said, then cleared his throat as though belatedly realizing he might have just lost some cool points. "I mean - yeah. Huge tin cans. Don't know how they stay up there, actually. Sounds like dark magic to me."

Veronica laughs.

"So you travel in planes then? Vampires don't have some secret teleportation power or anything?"

"I do travel in planes," he confirmed. "Before that, boats. Before that... I guess people walked a lot. I'm not that old."

Veronica suddenly has a million more questions about living life as a vampire, but she looks around and figures now is not the time or place to ask.

"I hate flying," she confides.

Angelus leaned forward so he could confide back. "Me too. I keep expecting the damn thing to fall out of the sky."

Veronica tilts her head in confusion.

"But it wouldn't kill you if it did, right?"

"Lot of things don't kill me," Angelus grinned, "doesn't mean they're fun."

"Oh, good point," she says. "I... well... I'm a little claustrophobic," she confesses.

"I can see how planes would do that for a person," he gestured to himself. "Don't need to breathe, so hard for a confined space to bother me much. Not that I enjoyed living underground mind you."

Veronica shudders. All she can think of is being locked in a freezer and smelling gasoline.

"Yeah, tight spaces are so not my friend," she says. "I can't even begin to imagine living underground."

"I can't imagine why anyone would want to," Angelus said. "Well, some are too ugly to try otherwise. I suppose that's part of it."

Realizing he's speaking too generally he adds, "I'm talking about my kind here, not humans. Not all vampires have a pretty face like mine."

Veronica gives him a sardonic smile. "I bet they're not all as modest as you, either."

That earns her a laugh. "Hey, if you saw their ugly mugs you'd know I was speaking the God's honest truth. For some there's nowhere to go but up."

[ooc: for the record, he would so be inviting her on the Vegas trip if not for the huge cup of Awk. Ward. that is her and Logan being exes.]

"Huh, so I guess vampires aren't that different from humans after all," she says.

"Not really," Angelus propped his head up on one hand much like Veronica in her icon. "Which makes sense when you think about it. We're made from humans. How different can we be?"
