Library, [01/09]

Jono was perhaps a bit distracted today as he went about his duties in the library, straightening out this and that, making certain that the displays were all in order, checking for overdue books and, failing all of that, dusting.

And if he just so happened to be lingering in sections that had books on things like demonic possession, well, that was purely coincidence, really.

Truly.

"So monkeys and ghosts?" he guessed, tilting his head. "The paranormal stuff could be interesting, no? And you can use the other class to learn how to deal with the rest of the school."

"Such a high opinion you have of your classmates," she said, quirking her lips.

"You're not denying it," he teased, actually feeling relieved at her reaction. "Maybe it won't be as bad as you think now?"

Rosalind thought of what the class had had in the first week.

"That," she said, "will depend on the material covered."

"Maybe you can swap classes if it ends up being too bad?" he suggested, having no clue if that actually worked. "You can join my how to deal with idiots class. The teacher's kind of weird, though."

"I already know how to deal with idiots," Rosalind pointed out blandly.

"You do have a lot of experience," he teased, grinning at her.

"I cannot argue with that," she conceded.

He let out an amused breath and shook his head. At least she seemed more mellow now and he decided to try and push his luck. "So do you think you've got time for popcorn later?"

"Popcorn?" she asked, amused. "I am not so interested in it as you seem to have taken an off-hand comment to mean."

"I said I would get you some," he shrugged. She knew it wasn't about the popcorn, right?

She did.

She was going to make it be about popcorn.

"Unfortunately," she said, very dryly. "That urge has passed. You need not bother."

Except how it wasn't about popcorn.

"Fine," he decided, leaning down to be more level with her. "Then I'll just stop by to talk."
