Jono was perhaps a bit distracted today as he went about his duties in the library, straightening out this and that, making certain that the displays were all in order, checking for overdue books and, failing all of that, dusting.

And if he just so happened to be lingering in sections that had books on things like demonic possession, well, that was purely coincidence, really.

Truly.

"101 Ways You Might Be Possessed?" Rosalind asked, peering around him at the books he'd been dusting. She'd had to track him down when he hadn't been at the desk. "Daemonic Works Through The Ages and The Dark Road to Madness?"

She arched an eyebrow.

"Cheerful stuff."

Jono's eyes went perhaps a little wide as he flipped the book in his hand shut and stuffed it back on the shelf.

Because, you know, she hadn't just read the title aloud or anything already, no.

//Well, you know me,// he replied, hands going into his pockets, one pulling out the cloth that he'd been dusting with. //Ever th'very picture of good cheer and optimism, really.//

"Normally that extends more to your music, rather than your reading tastes," she said dryly, leaning against the shelf the book had been stuffed back onto. "And subtle."

Not at all.

//I'm also a master of subtlety,// Jono replied, shrugging his shoulders. //It was an interesting section to find my way to. And around here, demonic possession doesn't seem like something that's terribly unheard of, really, does it?//

Wonder why, Jono.

Rosalind gave him a sceptical look.

"It's about as likely as our pillows coming to life and trying to smother us," she pointed out. This was Fandom. "I do not see you investigating sentient pillows."

//Pillows aren't half as interesting,// Jono pointed out.

Also, he wasn't exactly dating a pillow.

//And I haven't gotten to th'killer pillow section, just yet. I'm not certain where that would be, under th'Dewey Decimal system.//

"Tsk tsk," she replied, slightly amused. "You don't know where everything is here?"

How shocking!

//Well, it is a rather large library,// Jono noted, shrugging a bit. //And would killer pillows be categorized under Science? Religion? It's something of an obscure topic, really.//

"Try the section for 'Weird'," she suggested. "And then narrow your search to 'Fandom Weird'."

Jonothon raised his eyebrows faintly.

Darn you, Rosalind. Making sense like that.

//Well, that's not typical Dewey Decimal,// he settled on. Which made it all better, so neener? //But I suppose yer logic works.//

And conveniently steered the conversation away from 101 Ways You Might Be Possessed.

"My logic always works," she informed him. "As logic tends to."

Which was a lie. Rosalind's logic did not always work according to normal logic.

Rosalind's logic was certainly not Earth logic, at least.

And Gaian logic was special.

//Well, we'll see if there is anything on death-pillows before you start gloating about it too much,// Jono replied. Because he was certain that Rosalind was totally the gloating type. //In th'meantime, I'll let you have th'benefit of th'doubt.//

He was so very kind.

She absolutely was.

"How kind," she said dryly. "How have you been, demonic books aside?"

//Aside from th'peculiar reading material? I've been...//

It was probably never a good sign when he had to stop to think about that.

//Sitting at about par with th'usual, I suppose. Only one teacher made horrified faces at me when I spoke this week. That's better'n I expected, really.//

"And rude of the teacher," she sniffed.

//Perhaps. But I think I put him in his place well enough.//

Because nothing ended a conversation as well as 'good man. Now carry on.' It was practically British law.

"And how did you do that?" she asked curiously.

So sue her, she was interested.

Jono actually let himself look a little amused, then.

//I informed him that I simply have a mellow voice, and offered to speak up, so that we could be certain that he hadn't gone dumb,// he replied.

Jono was so very kind.

Oh look, someone he'd been meaning to talk to.

"Hey, Rosalind," Jake came over when he spotted her.

Oh look, someone she'd been not-quite-avoiding out-right.

"Jacob." She glanced at him. "I trust your week has been well?"

"Not too shabby. It's kind of nice being able to walk places," he remarked, tilting his head at her. "What about you? Are you liking your classes?"

Rosalind looked at him for a long moment, then:

"No."

No, she was not.

Jake raised his eyebrows, not really having expected a negative answer.

"No? How come? The classes aren't interesting or is it the teachers?"

"I care not for the subject matter," she settled on, with a faint shrug.
