Jono was perhaps a bit distracted today as he went about his duties in the library, straightening out this and that, making certain that the displays were all in order, checking for overdue books and, failing all of that, dusting.

And if he just so happened to be lingering in sections that had books on things like demonic possession, well, that was purely coincidence, really.

Truly.

//It's... not working as well as you'd like, then,// Jono noted, softly. //Is there anything that I can do?//

He wasn't expecting much of an answer to that, either. But he had to at least extend the offer.

"Just being with you helps a great deal," Raven said with a small smile. It reassured her that he was alive and unharmed by herself or her father. "But I do not wish to demand too much of your time."

//Demand it? Luv, if th'gel that I'm dating can't demand my time, who can?//

There was a somewhat pointed eyebrow raise to go with that.

//I've changed my shifts at Groovy Tunes over to Mondays, which means there are all of two days in a row that I work, and yer welcome to visit me at both jobs, you know that. If it comes down to sharing dreams every night, I wouldn't be opposed to that. I can... try to think happy things, or something.//

Because Jonothon was truly a fountain of very happy little thoughts.

"Tuesdays are very busy for me, but I have no classes on Mondays," Raven said. "So that would be perfect."

She stifled a yawn; being close and cozy with Jono was far too relaxing. "And I am always willing to share your dreams with you," she said, not without a little blush at the thought of how she'd distracted him from his nightmares before.

Jonothon wasn't going to blush, no. But he was going to indulge himself in a moment spent thinking how bloody adorable it was when she did.

And then right on back to the conversation at hand.

//Yer welcome to, then, until yer nightmares shove off some,// he replied, lifting a hand to run through her hair. //Any night. You'll hear no complaints from me, Sunshine.//

She could hide from her father in Jono's dreams and help him avoid any nightmares of his own at the same time. And her father wouldn't be able to find her there, would he? It seemed like a perfect solution.

"Tonight?" she said hopefully, leaning into his hand. "Would George mind if I were to be in your room? Or I could ask Ariel if she is comfortable with you in ours. We do not have to be together, but it helps a great deal."

//Any night,// he agreed. //Tonight is good. I'm not certain about George, really. She's a bit... awkward around people.//

A pause. And then an awkward moment of his own.

//And Ariel still... doesn't know. About th'fire, I mean.//

Yep. He still hadn't told his little sibling that his face was on fire. This was one of those 'gold star for Jono' things, again.

"She does not?" Raven said, frowning. She laid a hand on his right cheek, fingertips gently moving over the skin above his wrappings. "Why not? Why does she think you cover your face then? I hope you are not worried about frightening her; Ariel seems in many ways an innocent but her emotions are strong and very caring."

//I'm worried about frightening a lot of people,// Jono pointed out. //If I wasn't, I wouldn't be wearing these wraps in th'first place, luv. But with Ariel, it's more... I told her there was an injury. It's just... awkward, I suppose, going into detail unless there's some need to.//

It balanced out nicely, really. Jono still didn't know that Ariel occasionally spent time with a fish-butt.

Raven didn't know, either. She was probably in for a surprise some day.

"I do not think she is aware of...what I am," Raven said. She could empathize with Jono about that, of course. She no longer hid the fact she was a demon, but she didn't usually go around introducing herself as one except where it was relevant, like her Paranormal class. "Perhaps I should warn her...tell her, I mean."

//Perhaps,// Jono allowed, hesitating for a moment before deciding better of pointing out that it wasn't the only thing she was hiding, anyhow. Even Jono possessed some measure of tact, really. //If you think there might be any cause for it, of course.//

That was kind of the same thing. But far more subtle.

Guilt flashed across her face, and she ducked her head to hide it. Between the times she'd lost control in the past and what had happened with Max, she knew she was becoming a danger. But what could she do other than leave Fandom?

"I do not think she is in any danger from knowing what I am," she finally said. Trigon didn't know Ariel, except for what he saw through her eyes. It would be difficult to entirely avoid her roommate just to protect her, however. And Ariel was so very inquisitive; she'd have questions that Raven wouldn't want to answer. "But questions may be...awkward."

//So... you can see why I haven't exactly... announced this, then,// Jono noted, his expression a little sideways. //The awkwardness?//

Maybe a bit of the fear of what might come up in a semi-related tangent, as well.

Raven nodded, still not looking up quite yet. "It is easier for me as well, to hide what I am," she said. "I am grateful for that at times. I am sorry, I should not expect you to be so open when I myself am not always so."

Like now.

Just like now.

//But...// he tilted his head a little, thoughtfully. //If you'd still like to share a room this evening, I... might be able to talk to Ariel about it. Or else... Any protest to a hotel room, tonight?//

Jonothon, you dog.

Raven tilted her head back up, her cheeks pink. "I would have no protest to that," she murmured. "You know I relish any time I may spend with you, alone or otherwise."

Privacy was so hard now that they both had roommates.

//It would be easier,// he noted, shrugging faintly. //And I wouldn't have to worry about my wrappings going askew through th'night. And besides, I actually quite enjoy alone time with you, Sunshine.//

And not just because he was going to be watching her like a hawk.

If she'd known he'd been talking to Anakin, she might've suspected ulterior motives (or ulterior ulterior motives?), but she was woefully innocent in this case, and eagerly embracing the idea.

"Then I would like that very much," she said. "The hotel here on the island, since you will have to work tomorrow?"

//That would be best,// Jono agreed, nodding as he twined his fingers through her hair. //If you'd like to come in to work with me, I wouldn't mind, either. I don't have to get up terribly early, really, but I wouldn't mind keeping yer company...?//

Ulterior ulterior motives indeed.

"As long as you do not mind," Raven said, winding her arms around his neck with a happy smile. She was half-wondering if she should go by 'Dite's store and look for sleepwear that was slightly more exciting than her usual black nightgowns.

"I do not want you to become tired of me, however," she added.

//I've my doubts that I'll ever get tired of you,// Jono replied.

Less worried? Also something that he probably wouldn't become any time soon.

//In fact, I've become rather fond of yer company,// he continued. //I think I shall keep you.//

All his. No Trigons allowed.

"Then I am yours," Raven said, leaning in to give him a kiss.

She had to be strong enough to resist her father. She had to be. If she clung hard enough to the love she had for Jono and Karla and Anakin and all her friends, that would be enough, wouldn't it?

They could only hope, really.

But then, Jono already knew better than to think that love was strong enough to ward away any tragedy. After all, tragedy was hardly tragic at all, unless somebody got hurt.

That wouldn't stop him from accepting that kiss, or from thinking about kissing her, in turn. If anything, it would just serve to make him more determined to stop putting all faith in faith alone, to try to do something about this.

//I'm holding you to that, Sunshine.//

Raven was a romantic. She had to believe in the power of loooooove. It was the only hope she had to cling to right now. She had faith in the powers her friends possessed, but she also knew her father's power, and feared what it would do to them if they became involved in her inner turmoil.

"Do you wish me to make arrangements for tonight, or will you?" she said when the kiss finally ended.

//I can,// Jono replied, raising a hand to run his fingers lightly over her cheek. //It's no trouble, really. I'll stop by after my shift here ends and book th'room.//

One less thing, he figured, for Raven to worry about.
