Jono had better things to do today than take in some bloody picnic. Like chill out with the books. Jonothon liked the books, damn it. The only chewing that he was expected to do on them was only in the most figurative sense, and he wasn't expected to do any socializing or speaking to them, and--

Had Jonothon ever mentioned how much he had always wished for this sort of excuse to avoid the hell out of the Welcome Picnic?

This was because Jono was an antisocial plonker.

They just better not ever do it in class or Kerrigan would kick their asses. It probably wasn't what she would consider an acceptable use of powers, not the kiss, nor the nuzzling at his neck she was sending now.

"We must practice to keep our powers well-honed," she said. "I am certainly willing to put in the effort."

"Yes," Raven murmured. She closed her eyes for a moment, just drinking in and savoring the moment, wrapping it around her like a cloak to keep away her father's darkness. No nightmares about harming Jono or breaking Karla or torturing Anakin or friends turned into vampires, just warmth and affection.

When she opened her eyes, she touched her fingertips to the wrappings where his mouth would be. "I love you," she whispered. She tried not to say it too often, since she didn't want him to feel uncomfortable or pressured, but sometimes she just had to let him know.

"You say that as if you have a choice," Raven teased, and then she was kissing him again, focusing on that and only that, and not her father's whispers that he wouldn't have a choice if only she embraced her true self. After Dinah had picked up on that on New Year's Eve, she wasn't going to let him provoke her again for his amusement.
