Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

In order to give people a place to get away from the traffic jam of the buffet and information tables, most of the chairs and tables had been set up further out on the lawn, away from the school building. The bonfires were going strong, and there was plenty of room for everyone to sit down and enjoy themselves. Assuming they weren't too busy still trying to figure this place out.

Leo had felt much more confident about himself now that he had gotten meeting Karla and Ramona out of the way and he hadn't made a complete ass out of himself and nothing ended up on fire. You couldn't ask for much more than that if you were Leo.

So now he was finally getting a chance to check out his surroundings. He had a cup of coca in his hand and was looking up at the castle, sort of amazed that he was going to school here. Much better than Wilderness School, by a mile.

Spotting the son of Hephaestus in the crowd was not the way Nico had expected this day to go. Really, like he didn't have enough to deal with given Percy and Luke's time lines.

Nico gathered himself and approached, needing more information before he freaked out. It was Fandom, after all. This kid could be from Jason's world for all he knew. "It's good cocoa, right?"

Leo wasn't really used to being cold, but even he noticed the change in temperature when Nico approached him. At the moment he was just attributing it to a breeze and not thinking much of it.

"Huh? Oh yeah, man, excellent coca. Top notch," Leo said, looking down at his cup. "Did you make it or something?"

Why else would a creepy dude be asking him about his cocoa?

Already Nico had learned something, if this was who he thought it was, they hadn't met him yet. It was a good enough sign that Nico relaxed a little.

"No, it's just good against the chill," he said, extending a hand. "I'm Nico di Angelo, thought I'd come introduce myself." If the name didn't ring any bells, perhaps his cold skin or intense eyes would help things along.

"Leo Valdez," he said, using his overly warm hand to shake Nico's overly cold one. "Your name sounds super familiar, dude. Have we met before?"

Entirely possible, considering Leo met so many people at Camp Half Blood in such a short amount of time that he barely remembered any of their names.

Gods was that kid's hand warm, but he avoided frowning. There was no need to freak anyone out.

"Possibly not for you," Nico answered, disappointed that this wasn't some innocent kid with the wrong face who'd never heard of him. "But we are cousins. When are you from? I'm betting Apollo didn't cough up any warnings before you left."

Excuse Leo for a moment, he was just gonna stand here being confused over some guy who was apparently his cousin mentioning one of the gods and did he ask when he was from?

"Uh...what?"

So eloquent.

"When," Nico repeated slowly, avoiding rolling his eyes. "How about this, what do you know about Percy Jackson?"

The goal in his mind was clear, protect Percy and Luke from learning about their future and how Nico hoped to change things, patience was a virtue he didn't have time for.

Ooookay, totally another demigod. Leo shook off any surprise quickly, seeing as the situation wasn't all that weird. He had gone to school with Jason and Piper, after all. It's not like demigods spent all their time at camp.

Focus. Answer the question.

"Uh, he's Annabeth's boyfriend," Leo said. Look, that's all people seemed to say about him around Leo. "Oh hey! Now I know where I know your name. You're that son of Hades!"

Stop shouting it, Leo.

"Did anyone ever tell you to stop looking for Percy? We know where he is."

Yes, poke sore spots, Leo. Nico stepped closer so he could lower his voice and avoid being overheard by other nosy demigods.

"Uh, yeah. I'm from a bit into your future, too," Nico informed him, making a face at how long he'd searched for Percy before that had happened. "So you haven't met Percy yet? He's with the uh, other camp still?"

"Yeah, we haven't gotten him. I'm not even halfway done building Argo," Leo said, sounding a bit frustrated by that. He didn't know why he had to go to school when there was work he could be doing. "So you're from the future? Can you tell me cool stuff? Do I get a prom date?"

Consider this your punishment for being so annoying when you were younger, Nico.

"Yeah, but she ditches you after the first dance for another demigod," Nico lied easily.

"Focus now, Leo." Nico snapped his fingers, half expecting the other boy's attention to drift into thoughts of prom and who that other demigod would be. ADHD sucked. "I know stuff, but I can't really share, in part because it could screw up the prophecies, and also because Apollo would destroy me. You get that, right?"

He didn't need to guess who the other demigod would be. Dammit, Jason.

Leo did understand what Nico was saying, but it didn't stop him from looking slightly disappointed for a moment. "I guess I get it. Kinda sucks though, because I have a lot of questions. Like, does my boat work, does Thalia fall madly in love with me..."

...did he ever give into the urge to try to bring his mother back to life. He figured a son of Hades would know.

Nico snorted at the Thalia comment, because she was a hunter of Artemis after all. "Dude, it so sucks. But you'll get used to it. Especially if you run across Percy or Luke here on the island."

And now Leo looked confused again. "More...future stuff? Or past stuff? Time stuff?"

He hoped it was because if Percy was just chilling in some boarding school in Maryland then they totally wouldn't get to try out their sweet rescue attempt.

"Duh, they're from your past, so it's their future I'm worried about you spilling here, given your mouth is somehow bigger than mine." And really, how did that happen?

"Hey, I can totally keep a secret. I'm excellent at it." No, he really was not. "If I see them I totally won't say that Percy's lost and memory-less and Luke's a dead hero. I got it."

He did not.

"Seems like a rude thing to bring up anyway."

"No, listen to me," Nico said, stepping closer and working to try and surround Leo in a cool cloud of fear as his voice went all serious. His manic eyes tried to lock on Leo's as he spoke.

"Luke's smart. By Hades, even Percy will figure out you're a demigod eventually, Leo. And if they ask, you won't say anything or three feet of Stygian iron will draw the life out of you so fast you won't have time to light me on fire, son of Hephaestus."
