What It Takes To Be A Badass | Friday | Period 2

Loki wasn't in class today but that didn't mean he didn't have something planned. When the students got into the room, they'd find the desk arranged right next to each other. The students would find that, when they sat down, they'd be touching elbows and knees with the person next to them.

Yes, Loki knew that was cruel to do during this continued...what the fuck ever this was but it was a thing. He had a plan.

Sit down. Don't leave. Talk to each other or don't but don't leave. I'll know. This is a test.

A test of what, only Loki knew but he was going to be waiting outside the classroom once everyone filed in and he was going to check to see if anyone did leave. There were a few things he was looking for here but he wasn't going to tell them. He was just going to watch and wait.

One class this week, and it was glorified study hall? At this rate Quinn was never going to learn anything useful and she'd flunk out of college and it would all be stupid Fandom's fault.

She didn't mind sitting there, though, so she pulled out a notebook with a noisy sigh and began drawing an elaborate caricature of Loki with rat ears, whiskers, and a tail. It was her version of therapy.

"Pssst, Quinn," Alexander, figuring it far better to talk to a pretty blonde than just sitting there being bored and fidgety, leaned over his desk to get her attention, though he hoped he wasn't interrupting her drawing. "What do you suppose the point of this is?"

There had to be some sort of catch, after all, in this class.

"I think Loki was too lazy to write a real class," Quinn answered. "So he's doing this and watching us like lab rats. Isn't it fun?"

Sarcasm practically dripped off her.

Oh, was that sarcasm? Alexander couldn't tell.

He grinned. "It could be much worse," he offered. "I think, comparatively, I'd much rather just sit here and be bored than have to do some sort of random, likely embarrassing task that he'd only just thought up at the last minute. And at least the company is pleasant."

"The company," Quinn said more agreeably, "could definitely be a lot worse. I just don't like knowing I'm wasting time. I have to get into college and everything."

Which, clearly, she was going to have to do with her l33t doodle skills.

"So how have you been?"

[identity profile] daventryprince.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"I have been..." Alexander started to answer in a typical conversational fashion, but stopped himself as he realized that the answer might not be terribly true. "Er, well. I've had an...interesting week. I suppose it's best left at that. But yourself, how have you been? Besides the present waste of time, as it were."

[identity profile] chief-cheerio.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"Fine," Quinn said, though that wasn't quite true. "Just ... seems like people are thinking with their hormones even more than usual. But I can deal."

Even if she was considering asking Santana for lessons on how to sext and not sound like a total loser.

"Yes, I...er...noticed something like that, myself," Alexander admitted, the conversation already making him turn red and go back to fidgeting in his seat a little. "But I have been discovering it isn't just...uh...me, so that's...reassuring..."

He was quickly running out of coffee ice cream...

Quinn looked sympathetic to the fidgeting.

"I figured it was everybody," she said. "Monday at the hotel was just gross. The staff were all over each other. And, well, Glee club was kind of...."

She couldn't quite come up with the right words, there.

"Special."

The red, miraculously, deepened. And since Alexander could feel it deepening, he now knew that he had to actively try not to think of Ariel's hair. He was pretty sure that, and the big blue eyes, and begging, had gotten him into that whole thing.

"Special is a very kind way to put it, Quinn," he said, somewhat appreciatively, but mostly miserably.

[identity profile] chief-cheerio.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"I kind of assumed it was an Ariel thing," Quinn assured him. "Typical. Don't worry about it. I'm not going to ask for an encore."

Though he did have a very nice singing voice, actually.

The blush was still not going anywhere, but there was definitely an appreciative look underneath it.

"I didn't even know songs like that existed..."

"The glee club at my old school did an even worse one called 'Push It,'" Quinn said helpfully. "Sex sells."

[identity profile] daventryprince.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
There was a bit of a pause there.

"Since I can't exactly think of what it was Ariel was attempting to sell yesterday," Alexander said carefully, "I think I'm going to chalk this up as yet another cultural thing..."

It was said in a way that suggested that Alexander actually could think of it, and it was that he didn't know what to think about in actuality.

Quinn looked wistful. "That makes me wish I grew up where you grew up," she said. "I mean, I'm sure it sucks if you aren't rich, but it sounds like they knew how to treat girls. You're lucky."

Alexander, meanwhile, just looked a little uncomfortable.

"Sometimes," he said. "It would rather depend on the company you kept, as there are some who would go so far as to kidnap and enslave beautiful women merely because they had the good sense to not marry them."

Not that there was any bitterness in his voice or anything. He shook his head...

...and tried not to think of the fantastic way Cassima's slave robes just happened to fit her.

"Okay, rapidly losing my jealousy," Quinn decided. "That's horrible. Sorry I said it. I just like -- you know. Knights and ladies. Chivalry. That stuff. Nothing like what you said."

[identity profile] daventryprince.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"There is some of that, too," Alexander allowed with a faint smile. He felt a sudden need to reassure Quinn that Daventry and its surrounding lands weren't so hopeless. "After all, there's always the brave hero to rescue the beautiful woman kept in a tower by an evil hag. That's how my parents met. Or a prince who shows up to save the princess from a three headed dragon."

He was just not going to mention that the princess had been his sister...Didn't exactly fit the theme.

Quinn sighed. "That's what I want," she decided. "I'll pass on the swooning around and almost getting killed by being an idiot. But it'd be good to know that if things were really bad, the person I was with would be there for me."

For some reason, she thought not of poor dumb Finn in Lima (who was certainly a gentleman), but of the way Puck had found the tire iron for her in Rivet City. She wasn't sure why she hadn't kissed him then.

"Are your parents still together, or is that a bad question?"

Alexander felt something in his chest clench with Quinn's words, and, while he figured it was still better than something in his trousers, it caused a look of faint dread to pass of his face. What if things were really bad for Cassima right now? And he wasn't there for her?

Luckily, her question was able to bolster him from delving too deeply into those distresses. "Of course they are," he said fondly. "With everything they've been through together, it's impossible to imagine one without the other. Theirs is truly a love story for the ages."

Alexander followed it with his own sigh, wondering if he even dare dream that the same could be said for him and Cassima.

"That's incredibly sweet," Quinn decided. "Good for them."

And now she had fodder for daydreams for the rest of the week. Not about Alexander's parents specifically -- that would be weird -- but somebody rescuing her from the tower and riding off into the sunset? Mmmmm. It would be like something out of the trashy novels she'd say she never, ever read.

"I hope to have the same some day," Alexander admitted with a faint smile. "Though, maybe without so many bumps on the road."

Oh, seriously? Everyone was all hyped up and they were all being left alone to like just stare at each other? Not that Kitty had a problem with that or anything, really, but she was just going to get some of her homework out and work on that so she didn't have to just not stare at people.

Calvin sat.

Calvin was fidgety at the best of times.

As whoever ended up sitting next to him was soon to find out, this was not the best of times.

Just sit there. That didn't seem to difficult at all. Just sitting there was basically all he did growing up whenever Manannan was home and not making him work.

But then the fidgeting started to settle in, and he shifted a little awkwardly and realized that this was going to get terribly boring if he didn't take advantage of the fact that, this time, it was different, and he actually could talk to people and there actually were people to talk to other than a surly cat and an evil magician.

The desks were... awfully close to each other. Kurt didn't know if he could handle that, after this week.

So he sat down on the ceiling. The instructions didn't say where to sit, after all.

Well, this was somewhat awkward. Lindsay dealt with it by attempting to get some of her homework done for other classes. Mostly, she glanced at the clock, willing it to go faster.

Cloud was just going to stare into the nothingness and ponder whether he cared enough to stay or not.

But the nothingness was kind of cool at the moment, so there he was.

Jason eyed the desks as he came in, but sat down anyway. After a few minutes of being close and weighing his options, he got up and walked out of the room. It wasn't like he was doing well in this class anyway, with his refusal to act like a girl when Loki wanted him too, and he'd find a way to explain it to Bruce. Somehow. Possibly.

Well enough. She'd stay.
