What It Takes To Be A Badass | Friday | Period 2

Loki wasn't in class today but that didn't mean he didn't have something planned. When the students got into the room, they'd find the desk arranged right next to each other. The students would find that, when they sat down, they'd be touching elbows and knees with the person next to them.

Yes, Loki knew that was cruel to do during this continued...what the fuck ever this was but it was a thing. He had a plan.

Sit down. Don't leave. Talk to each other or don't but don't leave. I'll know. This is a test.

A test of what, only Loki knew but he was going to be waiting outside the classroom once everyone filed in and he was going to check to see if anyone did leave. There were a few things he was looking for here but he wasn't going to tell them. He was just going to watch and wait.

Alexander, meanwhile, just looked a little uncomfortable.

"Sometimes," he said. "It would rather depend on the company you kept, as there are some who would go so far as to kidnap and enslave beautiful women merely because they had the good sense to not marry them."

Not that there was any bitterness in his voice or anything. He shook his head...

...and tried not to think of the fantastic way Cassima's slave robes just happened to fit her.

"Okay, rapidly losing my jealousy," Quinn decided. "That's horrible. Sorry I said it. I just like -- you know. Knights and ladies. Chivalry. That stuff. Nothing like what you said."

"There is some of that, too," Alexander allowed with a faint smile. He felt a sudden need to reassure Quinn that Daventry and its surrounding lands weren't so hopeless. "After all, there's always the brave hero to rescue the beautiful woman kept in a tower by an evil hag. That's how my parents met. Or a prince who shows up to save the princess from a three headed dragon."

He was just not going to mention that the princess had been his sister...Didn't exactly fit the theme.

Quinn sighed. "That's what I want," she decided. "I'll pass on the swooning around and almost getting killed by being an idiot. But it'd be good to know that if things were really bad, the person I was with would be there for me."

For some reason, she thought not of poor dumb Finn in Lima (who was certainly a gentleman), but of the way Puck had found the tire iron for her in Rivet City. She wasn't sure why she hadn't kissed him then.

"Are your parents still together, or is that a bad question?"

Alexander felt something in his chest clench with Quinn's words, and, while he figured it was still better than something in his trousers, it caused a look of faint dread to pass of his face. What if things were really bad for Cassima right now? And he wasn't there for her?

Luckily, her question was able to bolster him from delving too deeply into those distresses. "Of course they are," he said fondly. "With everything they've been through together, it's impossible to imagine one without the other. Theirs is truly a love story for the ages."

Alexander followed it with his own sigh, wondering if he even dare dream that the same could be said for him and Cassima.

"That's incredibly sweet," Quinn decided. "Good for them."

And now she had fodder for daydreams for the rest of the week. Not about Alexander's parents specifically -- that would be weird -- but somebody rescuing her from the tower and riding off into the sunset? Mmmmm. It would be like something out of the trashy novels she'd say she never, ever read.

"I hope to have the same some day," Alexander admitted with a faint smile. "Though, maybe without so many bumps on the road."
