Food Appreciation [Week 10, Period 4, Mon. 11/08]

Once again, the front of the classroom featured a table laden with a wide variety of foods and a teacher smiling at the class. "So, I was at the grocery this morning, thinking about class, and decided to see what we could do with the whole food as an aphrodisiac thing. You know, the idea that some foods make you feel sexier than others. Don't pretend you've never heard about this. Oysters have long been thought to be the perfect mood setters since Roman times. Just the aroma of an almond was said to jumpstart serious amounts of passion in females. I think now we all understand that weird Dutch love of marzipan now, hmm?" Or maybe not. He was no expert. "What I want you guys to do is give a few of these foods a try - maybe the avocado or the figs or a little pineapple or banana with chocolate syrup - and see if you feel any different."

John paused. "No promises and no making out in class if it does work. You all have rooms and it's not like they're far away."

...somehow, Ariel was pretty sure after yesterday that cookies were not among these aphrodisiac foods, even if they did lead to dates. But, considering she was going to try making Bruce something else, she was going to pay attention for new ideas.

...and write them down this time, since that, apparently, might work.

Luke was a teenage boy, he didn't need help getting in the mood. Especially today for some reason. Whatever, free chocolate is free chocolate. He wasn't about to complain.

Calvin...really hadn't been expecting this. So he was just going to stare for a while and wish he'd changed back after class instead of before.

This was definitely not a class Jane would have had at Lawndale. At least not without Principal Li having some sort of fit, which, okay, that'd be fun. But... for some reason she was really interested in this class today and it involved chocolate, so what the hell.

Alex knew that all too familiar feeling creeping up his spine and settling into his skin. This class wasn't going to help him and he tapped his fingers restlessly while he listened.

Momoko really wasn't sure what to think about today's topic. She knew about foods... affecting people, but never really wanted to experiment with... that sort of thing in class!!

Yeah, Bobby was gonna go straight for the strawberries and chocolate and just... eye the oysters warily.

Except there was one thing.

"Eating oysters?"

Some of her good friends had been oysters.

"Yeah, they're pretty disgusting as far as I've heard," Peter said. "You're supposed to just slurp them down whole, right out of the shell. How that's sexy, I don't know. Maybe it's the fact they look kind of like certain things."

Yeah, he'd taken the bait.

"That's awful!" Ariel gasped. It was even worse than sushi, and her round eyes stared in shock as she realized she'd never, ever be able to look at her oyster friends the same way ever again.

Thankfully, Peter wasn't crass enough to make sickening slurping noises to mimic eating oysters. "You've got something for mussles?"

Alex bypassed a lot of the food before taking some of the truffles. He didn't know why, he already felt keyed up but it was free food and he couldn't resist.

"Mustard's an aphrodisiac?" he asked, sounding skeptical. "Right."
vanillajello: (What the hell are you saying?)

"Ew, why would you ever use asparagus as an aphrodisiac?"

Yeah, that was Kate making an appalled face. Because the effects of asparagus on certain things were gross. Gross, gross, gross.

Helen tried a few of the foods carefully.

Banana and chocolate syrup? Now there was a good combination. Chuck hadn't yet associated his twitchiness to anything but Monday morning-itis (though, shouldn't he be feeling less awake, not more?), and was perfectly happy to give things a try.

He was vaguely wondering why the school was sponsoring them trying foods theoretically supposed to turn them on. Could he really be blamed if his eyes wandered a little on this whole train of thought. There were some very pretty girls in this class. He couldn't help but look.
