Library, [11/17]

Okay, so Jono was a little late getting himself into the library today for his shift, what with having to travel back from Vail and all, but he showed up as soon as possible, considering.

So soon, in fact, that he still had his bag of laundry and his guitar with him, both of which were sitting behind the desk while he set to work, re-shelving books and silently, very silently, chuckling to himself.

Once again, it looked as though he'd gotten off easy today, didn't it?

[Open library is just that! Open!]

"That seems fair," Faramir agreed. He had at least noticed the summaries already and did not need to ask for an explanation on that. "I merely hope I can resist trying to read them all at once."

//At least begin at th'beginning and end at the end before you pick up th'next,// Jono replied, bemused. //Th'library isn't going anywhere, mate. You can always come back for more.//

"And yet, it will take more time than I have here to finish them all," Faramir pointed out. Even if he might try to prove himself wrong.

//Well, I suppose if you have some means of getting mail, I might be convinced to ship you some, after you've gone,// Jono offered. //What year are you?//

He was a senior, himself. But he'd go that extra mile for the sake of reading material.

It took an instant before Faramir realised exactly what Jonothon was asking. "Junior," he said, "though I am not certain how long my father wills me to stay here."

There was a topic he did not need to broach today. "There's plenty of books in the archives of Minas Tirith, but we are not allowed to take any of them with us. I do have a small collection that I bought myself."

//Odds are high that I won't be able to bring most of my things with me, when I graduate this coming year,// Jono shared. //I'd give you my books, if you were at all interested...//

Really, he'd managed to amass way too much stuff over this past year, including but not limited to three guitars, over a hundred records and CDs, and an animatronic parrot that had been stolen from the Tiki Room at Disney.

"I..." Faramir blinked. "I would be very much interested, but only if you are certain that you would have no use for them."

//I have libraries where I'm from that I can get books out of whenever I want,// Jono noted. //I could probably just mail them to myself, but I wouldn't have anywhere to keep them, anyhow.//

So far as he could figure, he was either going back to the Massachusetts Academy, or else he was going to live in a gutter somewhere. With his three guitars, because those were going with him come hell or high water, no matter what.

"There would not be any room where you're staying?" Faramir asked. "Not even some?"

//Honestly? I have no idea,// Jono admitted. //I'm not certain really where I'll end up, after I graduate here. I'd rather know that my books were in good hands than be forced to pawn them off to be able to afford a cheap, dirty flat somewhere.//

"Then let us make a deal that I shall keep them safe for you, and if you can keep them then I shall send them on to you," Faramir offered. "If you would need the money, then I will simply buy them."

Jono contemplated that offer for all of... about three seconds.

//Deal,// he replied. //We'll see what things look like around th'time I graduate, and go from there.//

"There is time still," Faramir agreed. "Now show me these young adult books."

//Right this way, mate,// Jono said, gesturing in the proper direction as he stepped out from behind the desk. //There's got to be something there that'll suit yer fancy.//

They did not have a small selection, after all.

[And on that note? Totally bedtime for me!]
