Alexander had come in for a different type of book today, having nothing to do with geography or traveling or anything. Just theatrical scenery things, though he'd collected an impressive pile under his arm.
He gave Wesley a smile when he came to check them out. "Hello, Wesley; how has your day been faring so far?"
"I can place no complaints," Alexander smiled back easily to Wesley's disposition, though he couldn't help be curious about his comment. "Disturbing how, if I may ask? A statement like that does tend to spark one's intrigue, I must admit."
"We visited - I suppose some kind of demon?" he guessed. "The smell was rather putrid, to be honest. I'm always surprised when we have interactive classes of that nature, where - er - hygeine becomes an issue."
Alexander's grin remained at Wesley's description. "Was it in the Danger Shop? It's always an interesting experience, I feel, leaving one to not be sure how much of it becomes real and how much remains part of the simulation. Including hygienic concerns."
"Yes, that's where it was," Wes said, smiling knowingly. "In all honesty, I wouldn't put it past Professor Skywalker to enhance the simulation just to allow us to be just that bit more nauseated. It seems congruent with his typical methods."
Aaaand that called for a change of subject. "Did you have class today?" he asked.
"Oh, a few handwavey sorts here and there," said Alexander with a shrug, "but nothing significance. I must admit, this is not the first I've heard of Professor Skywalker's methods, and now I am left to wonder whether I want to take his class out of curiosity or avoid it as one might a plague."
"It's - it's intense," Wesley explained. "He certainly enjoys dwelling on, shall we say, difficult subjects. But I would venture that one gets something out of the experience of taking the class - if only a headache."
"He does often seem fairly...glowery in Glee Club," Alexander noted. "And with all the extra classes Mother makes me take, I'm sure I could do without the extra headaches in the long run..."
Thursdays were usually lazy days for Alex but today, she was making a trek to the library. Alex was pretty sure her dad would die of shock if he knew she was there. There was magic to learn and what better place to find information on it? Learning translated to annoying the heck out of her older brother the next time she was home. Priorities, she had them.
"Hello," he said, cutting off his mental recitation of the subjunctive tense, because that would be an awkward thing to think about while socializing. "I'm quite well. How are you?"
"Not too bad, actually. I didn't have any classes today so that's a plus," she replied, mostly joking about that last part. "Anything exciting going on?"
She was bored and it had been a quiet week so far. Quiet by Fandom's standards, anyway.
"Parents' Weekend can definitely take it out of you. Or so I've heard," Alex remarked. "I was spared this time around." And boy, was she thankful for that. Though a very small part of her wished someone had shown, not that she'd ever admit it. "What about you?"
He grinned wryly. "I wasn't quite so fortunate," he answered. "My father apparently felt the need to check on my progress so far. But all things considered, it wasn't as - er, torturous - as some other people's family experiences seemed."
"You were one of the lucky ones then," Alex grinned. "What did your dad have to say?" Hopefully all good things, whether it was about Wesley or Fandom itself.
She could only imagine what her father would have to say about the school and the island.
"He said... well, a number of things, but for the most part he seemed impressed," Wesley said vaguely. Because elaboration would just kill him, apparently.
"Did you - ah - advise your parents not to come?"
Because if he'd known about PW in advance, he would have so tried that.
If Alex had met Wesley's dad, she probably would've known better.
"An impressed parent is a win in my book," Alex admitted. "In a way? I don't think they ever got the notice about Parents' Weekend." Which worked to her advantage in the end. If they had gotten it and decided not to come, well, that would've been worse.
