Office Hours - Tuesday 25.10

Charlie's alternating between solving sudoku puzzles and finishing up the lesson planning for tomorrow. The door is open though, for anyone that might want to visit or is just bored.

Angelus knocked on the doorframe. "Hey teach."

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 12:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"Whatcha got there?" Angelus asked as he made himself comfortable in one of the chairs by Charlie's desk.

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sure, who wouldn't?" Angelus said, acting as though he knew what in the hell Charlie was talking about.

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"You think we can really do this?" Angelus asked. "Be interesting to see what we come up with. You know not for nothing there's places that would publish something like that. Not in this dimension, probably, but back home."

"These are good categories to start with," Angelus said. "Off the top of my head, there's also issues like migration. Not every vamp stays in one place. Especially those that kill. Hard to maintain a steady diet if you've got the remaining half of the town coming at you with pitchforks."

"I'm an open book," Angelus dragged a spare chair over so he could prop one foot up on it. "I can start by telling you we're not all alike. Not everybody drinks human blood, not everybody drinks to kill. Some follow strict rules about what passes their lips, others take whatever crosses their path."

"Animal blood," Angelus said. "Pig is most common, but others fall into the scheme as well. Blood also doesn't have to come directly from the vic- uh, person. Some vamps live by robbing blood banks."

"You'd rather they bite the necks directly?" Angelus countered. "Besides, it's not like they don't need it too. Hardly our fault if human society doesn't want to accomodate us."

"We travel," Angelus said. "Or some of us do. Others lay claim to a city and won't leave it for decades if not centuries. But that could be factored in, right? There's kinds of animals that do that too."

Re: the list Charlie gives Angelus

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Angelus tapped his pen against the desk. "Well there's got to be formulas in place already for things like this, right? I mean it's not like scientists go out and physically count all the sparrows in the world. Or am I really misunderstanding the field of ornithology?"

[ooc: I don't mind at all! Slow time away =) ]

Re: the list Charlie gives Angelus

"It would depend on the town," Angelus said. "I ususally stuck to the big cities. Not that I avoided the 'burgs but vamps usually can't hang around the average one Starbucks town without attracting unwanted attention. Well, unless you're on top of a Hellmouth."

Re: the list Charlie gives Angelus

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2005-10-27 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hellmouth," Angelus said. "Mouth to hell. Or entrance, if you want to be picky. There's a few of those back on my world. Vampires, demons, and magic tend to converge on them. But it's not a requirement. Most vamps are happy anywhere where it's easy for them to get around in the day. So subways, sewer systems, underground anythings are key."

Re: the list Charlie gives Angelus

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2005-10-27 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"Exactly," Angelus said. "That's why I could never understand the whole Anne Rice gig. There is no underground in New Orleans. How's a vamp supposed to make a living?"

"Photographic," Angelus replied. "Well, depending on the situation."

[ooc: hee!]

[identity profile] prof-cregg.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[Knocks} Mr. Eppes? I just wanted to make sure you got my voicemail about the girls.

((ooc:honestly, it's because you're the first person I haven't had to introduce sudoku too! ::loves on Charlie::))

[identity profile] prof-cregg.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I just left it...but I thought, how stupid since I'm just down the hall. I hope you don't mind my dropping by. [She walks in and sits down. She crosses her legs at the knee and looks at his desk] Oh! I love those! Su--um...soduku? I can't remember the name. We used to play while we were waiting for Congress to vote.

((ok, so sue me. I'm totally MSing my love onto CJ. I admit it.))

[identity profile] prof-cregg.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
No. Actually they didn't. Kimberly hasn't been to my classes either. I'm repeating myself, you'll hear it on your voice mail...but you were warned students disappear with alarming frequency here, right?

[identity profile] prof-cregg.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. I've lost...I don't know how many. Seven since the beginning of term? Sometimes they go home to their parents, but usually they just disappear. Sucked into locker 327...or worse. This is an unusual school, Charlie. If you can roll with the punches, you'll be fine. Boy, could I tell you some stories...[she smiles, laughs lightly, and sips her coffee]

Put a 9 there...

[identity profile] dorky-broots.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"Um, you wanted to see me about the TA position?" Broots asks nervously from the doorway.

[identity profile] dorky-broots.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Broots walked in, a bit timidly. "Yeah, um, it does."

[identity profile] dorky-broots.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"All right." Broots nods and wonders what he got himself into.

((ooc: Yeah, figured. *g* Only thing, am currently sick and very busy through Monday. After that, things should settle down to normal level.))
