Library [08/29]
Jonothon had been in desperate need of the familiar today, and waking up this morning to realize that the person who was sleeping in Jak's bed was most definitely not Jak had been jolt enough to spur him into actually getting to his feet of his own accord, pulling on his cleanest dirty clothing, and making his way down to the library today for his shift.
That he was now moving through the stacks like a man possessed, looking over the course calendar for the semester and setting out displays of books that he thought other students might find topical to each and every class... That was something else. Now that he'd immersed himself in the familiar, he was hell-bent on not letting himself think too hard about why he'd needed it so badly.
The library was open, and was possibly almost too ready to face students new and old.
[The library, it is open.]

Re: Talk to Jono!
Jono always looked slammed, but this was worse than usual.
Re: Talk to Jono!
He didn't care which. He was desperate for air, right about now, breathing or none.
... And maybe half hiding behind his desk, at this point. There was a small stack of books about Canada still sitting on the floor where he'd knocked his head on the table, and for all he cared, they could stay there.
Re: Talk to Jono!
"Go home, Jono," he decided. "I'll finish the Canada display. Who got you like this?"
Re: Talk to Jono!
//S'complicated,// he said, in a sort of faraway voice, with a nice little shrug of his shoulders to go with it. //Maybe shouldn't've come in today.//
... No, really?
Re: Talk to Jono!
Re: Talk to Jono!
//No, no, I mean-- No. I wouldn't've... I mean...// His hands went up to the sides of his head, and he slunk down behind the desk a little. //I don't know what I mean. Bloody hell.//
He'd probably be okay in a bit. Honest.
//Sherlock bloody Holmes kept trying to poke at me.//
Because that seemed like a sort of starting point. And it was better than snapping and telling the boss about his week.
Re: Talk to Jono!
He sighed and flopped into a chair. "I met him," he said. "Consider that he has to go through life being named Sherlock Holmes. That'd be hard for anybody. Need me to write him a polite but cutting memo about proper treatment of aides?"
Re: Talk to Jono!
Most people didn't pay close enough attention to notice that Jono wasn't actually breathing, for one. Noticed that he hadn't quite mastered how to fill out his bandages enough to be able to ape a completely convincing bottom jaw yet, too.
//I'm sorry. I'm usually better at dealing with being a... curiosity.//
It seemed an easier word to handle today than 'freak.'
Re: Talk to Jono!
"Your job is to direct people to books. Shelve things. All of that. It is not to have teachers play guessing games with you, and if one tries it because of how you look and talk, send them the hell back to my office. All right?"
Re: Talk to Jono!
//S'just been a rotten week,// he said, quietly. //I think I just need to...// To wince. Yes. To wince and not have any idea what it was that he needed to do. //I'll be better next shift.//

Re: Talk to Jono!
He lingered there for a moment more, and then he muttered another bit of thanks, far quieter than the one before it, and turned and made his way swiftly for the door.
