Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part III

More tables and chairs had been set up further out on the lawn, where there weren't as many trees. That meant there wasn't as much shade either, so these tables had more fans on them to make up for the difference. Still, it was bound to be quieter over here than closer to the main area.

"Of course. Only you would age like twenty years and still keep growing!" Momoko rolled her eyes and grinned. "Stop that! Any taller and I'll have to be flying to talk to you!"

"Then I'll try not to get any taller," said Lion-o, still smirking. "Obviously, the door frames aren't getting any taller. I don't want to have to keep ducking every time I enter a room. So, what do you think of the new crop of new kids?"

Momoko looked out at all of the people mingling and shrugged. "I haven't met many of them, but they seem nice! No one seems to be from my world, so that's good. You?"

"They look pretty in interesting, but I haven't seen any that look remotely Thunderian," said Lion-o. "But I lucked out again. I didn't get a new roommate. Snarf should be relieved about that when he gets back."

Oh yeah.

Momoko fidgeted a bit, then winced and looked up at him. "Uhm. I kind of did? And uh, I kind of have to move to a new room, so I won't be next door anymore. Or even on three."

"You'll still come visit me, right? It's only a few stairs!"

"Of course I'll still visit you," said Lion-o. "What room number did you get? And what do you think of your new roommate?"

Whew!

Momoko grinned, relieved. "I'm in 512? And I haven't met my roommate yet. I hope he's not allergic to cats. Or has a dog. The school wouldn't do that, right? Make me move in with someone who has a dog when I have a cat?"

"That would be tough," said Lion-o. "But if your roommate is allergic, or if he has a dog that doesn't like Moshi, then your cat can always stay in my room for a while until you can arrange to get a new room."

He raised an eyebrow. "Wait, you said 'he.' Is your roommate a boy?"

"Thank you! You are an AWESOME friend!" Momoko leaned over and bumped his shoulder gently. "And yeah. It's a boy. I think, why?"

"Just that it always seems weird for the school to mix genders in rooms," said Lion-o. "But I guess this means you won't need my help moving your pink bookcase?"

"I had a boy roommate my first semester here." Momoko nodded. "I thought it was totally weird, too, but it worked out fine. He was nice! Why wouldn't I need your help?"

"Because your roommate would be able to help you out? Unless he doesn't like pink, of course," said Lion-o. "But what are the chances of that happening?"

"Oooh! I hadn't thought of asking him to help. That might be kind of rude, though, since I'm just meeting him. I'll totally have to let you know." She mocked a pout at him. "And you're still making fun of the pink, aren't you? I love that colour!"

"It's a very bright color. Sometimes it can be a little hard on the eyes," said Lion-o, smirking.

She stuck out her tongue at him. "I am so totally going to paint everything in your room that colour when you next go home."

"You wouldn't dare," said Lion-o, laughing. "If you did, I could just paint over it!"

"I totally would!" She smugly replied. "And I'd totally add stripes! Yellow stripes!"

"Pink with yellow stripes?" asked Lion-o with a shudder. "I might have to wear sunglasses when I am in my room!"

"You'd totally deserve it!" Momoko grinned. "For teasing the bookcase and for leaving me behind while you went home."

"Ahhh," said Lion-o. "But if I take you with me and convince Panthro to let you fly a space ship, then my walls will be safe from your bright colors."

There may be some subdued bouncing going on over here.

"Maybe?" YES!

"But I have to warn you, I have no idea when I'm next going back," said Lion-o. "But when I have plans, you'll be the first one to hear about it."

"Fine! I promise not to paint anything in your room, then." She sighed, melodramatically. "Unless I find out you cheated, then you will so totally not want to come home."

"I'll consider myself warned," chuckled Lion-o, but his mood quickly turned serious. "As the Lord of the Thundercats, you have my word that I won't break my promise."

That was odd. Momoko looked at him strangely; he didn't usually mention his title.

"Okay, thank you," she finally said, a bit quieter than normal. "But, I'll always take your word as just Lion-o, you know."
