Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part III

More tables and chairs had been set up further out on the lawn, where there weren't as many trees. That meant there wasn't as much shade either, so these tables had more fans on them to make up for the difference. Still, it was bound to be quieter over here than closer to the main area.

Lion-o was sensing that something was a little off with Momoko's response, but he wasn't sure what had caused it. He figured it was just to just move onto another topic.

"Did you enjoy the break week? I liked being able to sleep in," he said.

"I liked sleeping in, sure, but I totally hate it that everyone leaves."

She pinched her lip. "Lion-o? Why did you think I wouldn't believe you? Do I tease you too much about going home with you? I can totally stop. I mean, I'm totally fine with that, if it's what you want."

"Oh! I don't mind the teasing, really," said Lion-o, slightly taken by surprise. "It was just... I was thinking of Jaga, and all the stuff he told me about the responsibilities I would have one day, and how 'one day' just keeps sneaking up on me."

"Oh, good. I wasn't sure, since you don't usually talk like that." Momoko sighed in relief and smiled at him. "You'll always be regular Lion-o to me, no matter what day it is, so don't worry"

"Except when you're a cereal salesvampire, of course."

Lion-o groaned. "Oh, every time I think I've forgotten that, someone has to remind me of that," he said. "I hope that doesn't happen again. Those weekends are so bizarre. At least I wasn't hiding under the bed like the previous one."

She laughed and leaned against him for a second. "Lion-o? I don't think you'd fit under the bed anymore!"

Lion-o burst out laughing. "No, I think my days of hiding under the bed are long behind me," he said. "It still amazes me to think that I was once the smallest freshman at Fandom High, and now I'm starting my junior year."

"You were so small! And looked so confused." She giggled. "And when you used your sword, I always wondered if you were going to fall over!"

"There were a few times where I did fall over," said Lion-o. "But only when I was practicing, not when it really mattered."

More giggling. "I totally wish I'd seen that!"

"Have you gotten any more information about it? I totally forget to ask."

"Nothing new," said Lion-o. "Though I still get a weird feeling that I need to get the sword out of storage right before something weird happens, like when all those voids opened up all over the island a few weeks ago."

"I still think that's an awesome power to have. I wish I knew when I would need to transform, instead of just waiting until something attacks."

"Well, next time I think something weird is about to happen, you'll be the first person I tell," said Lion-o, grinning.
