bigdamnprincipal: (i am having a picnic)

Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part III

More tables and chairs had been set up further out on the lawn, where there weren't as many trees. That meant there wasn't as much shade either, so these tables had more fans on them to make up for the difference. Still, it was bound to be quieter over here than closer to the main area.

[Please wait for OCD! The OCD is up! This is the SECOND post for general mingling. Use this post if your browser can't handle the comment load of the first mingling post. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Keep eating and drinking? Gladly! The more Kūkaku ate, the less she had to think about all those looks and staring and arched brows she was getting.

She couldn't imagine why. She was even wearing her prosthetic arm today, so she knew it couldn't be the stump.

"NICE BREASTS!"

And there was her answer.

That stupid red...idiot! Kūkaku drew in a breath to keep herself from just shouting out a string of obsenities in front of all the children, and dutifully lifted up the piece of chicken she was eating.

"It's a leg, you moron!"

And it was a little too dry, besides.

Andy liked these welcome days and the new influx of people. The student body was so varied here that you never knew who or what was going to be arriving. It made things really interesting. He looked around at the newcomers curiously as he took advantage of the free food.

James observed.

He would be walking and mingling in a moment or two to see the new faces up close and hear a bit of the gossip, but for now, he settled against a tree, finishing his plate.

Although Ariel had a few people she was decidedly trying to avoid (which might be easier if she wasn't wearing a blue sparkly dress), the excitement of new people and being able to talk to them and the picnic in general and not having to stay a mermaid overruled that, so she was still enjoying the picnic and her even more pronounced freedom.

Scully was amusing herself by mentally re-labeling the food at the table: Insect larva (caviar). African bee jelly (red caviar and honey). Chocolate covered kaydids. (Turtles.)

Meanwhile, the food was still good. Nom.

Momoko was piling her plate higher than possibly imaginable and all of it looked to be sweets. It wasn't, there was some health stuff underneath, but it looked like she was going to be more hyper than usual.

What? She loved food welcome picnic!

Lion-o was in no hurry to get around to meeting the new kids. He had a whole semester to do that, and the food wouldn't last quite that long. He had a plate piled down with goodies and was working his way through it.

But if any of the new kids stopped to gawk at a walking, talking lion/boy, he would be happy to put them at ease.

Harper was wearing a large, wide-brimmed straw hat covered with grapes, which matched her purple sundress (http://www.etsy.com/listing/52700889/vintage-purple-sundress-with-white). She was also eating grapes, but it was hard to tell if she was eating them off her hat or getting them from the tables.

She had a fan nearby, but she only used it when it got unbearably not since it clashed with her outfit.

So far, his search for anyone who may have heard of the Land of the Green Isle had proven fruitless, but Alexander hadn't exactly expect it to be successful. He wasn't giving up, not by a long shot, but he figured that, by this point in the picnic, he could now focus on simply enjoying himself in being social and enjoying the food.

Spock had a small plate of fruits and vegetables he was nibbling at as he stood, ramrod straight, and observed the gathering in his usual uptight Spockish way.

After meeting his sibling and roommate, Jack made a beeline for the table to get something to drink. The island seemed nice enough. There was a good view and plenty of people around, but being the new guy and having to start all over again sucked. He got himself a drink and took a breather from the hazing and bizarre stories these kids liked to tell.

He knew Bobby was around here somewhere, and he kept an eye out for him, hoping he didn't believe everything he was told today.

Roy was here, shirtless (of course), ready to greet the new ladies students, and trying not to miss certain people who'd left too much.

Yup. George was still here. At least there was food. It was just like Der Waffle Haus, except without all the reapers and with entirely too much sunshine.

George was sitting by herself, bored. And wondering if she could keep the bike in her room. The rooms were probably tiny, but it wasn't like she had much shit.

"Yay! You made it through the entire summer without getting even older! Hi Lion-o!" Momoko laughed and moved a mini raspberry and lime custard tart to his plate from hers. "We totally need to tell the Fina about this tart, it's awesome!"

Leda was acutely aware that as this was her last year in Fandom, she should enjoy the food out here in the World while she could.

There were no hot dogs or pizza in Faerie. Though burgers and fries had begun to be seen in inns close to the border.

But that was her excuse for having two chili dogs and three slices of pizza on her plate.

The pink and green stripes in her hair and black jeans and tank top held together with safety pins and raggedly sewn with dental floss were more for effect. Though it wasn't likely she'd be able to get away with that when she graduated either.

Robin loved newbie day. He always tried to make a good first impression, usually by performing. So he sat under a tree with his guitar, singing (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSxoxm35PrE) a Bare Naked Ladies ditty.

"Are you sure?" Lion-o asked with a grin. He looked down at his feet. "Personally, I feel a little bit taller than I was at the beginning of the summer. Are you telling me it's all in my mind?"

"Of course. Only you would age like twenty years and still keep growing!" Momoko rolled her eyes and grinned. "Stop that! Any taller and I'll have to be flying to talk to you!"

Re: More General Mingling [Fall 2010]

[identity profile] lordofthecats.livejournal.com 2010-08-28 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"Then I'll try not to get any taller," said Lion-o, still smirking. "Obviously, the door frames aren't getting any taller. I don't want to have to keep ducking every time I enter a room. So, what do you think of the new crop of new kids?"

Jack walked over to George and sat down. "You look how I feel."
