fandomhigh | Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

It might have been the start of the fall semester, but it was definitely still summer in Fandom. The sun was shining and the temperature was already starting to get high, even as the NPC crew set things up for the day.

Luckily, the school knew how to take care of folks on days like today. Beneath the blue and gold streamers and balloons, tables had been set up with cold drinks and food, and an entire section devoted to offering up different ~~moddable~~ ice cream flavors. As always, there was a stack of nametags set down next two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and one listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

With everything set up and the crew out of the way, it was time for the picnic to begin!

"Yeah, but most people here are all talk," Deadpool pointed out.

"I strike you as the all talk type?" Anakin replied with a little snort.

There was a thoughtful pause there. "Okay, true. But someday you will be. Like that time you kept crying."

NEVER. LET IT. GO.

Anakin glared. "I would have punched him too."

"He did deserve a lot of punching." See, that's how you toughened a whiner up! Violence!

What awesome parents they were!

"It's not like he could've cried harder," Anakin mused.

They totally were!

"Oh, I dunno. We coulda made that happen."

Somewhere... someone was thinking about calling DCFS.

"True," agreed the guy who'd blown up his daughter's planet and cut off his son's arm. "Of course, I wasn't here at the time..."

Deadpool was totally buying him a #1 Dad coffee mug for Christmas.

"See, this is why we need someone who looks like you in town. The guy who looks like me just left..."

"I've never had a doppelganger come to the island," Anakin mused. "Is it odd seeing your face on a clearly inferior person?"

"Holy crap, yes! I mean, I know I'm awesome and all, but people don't need to be me."

Unless they're cosplaying.

"Exactly," Anakin said. "It's awkward enough to have a fanclub."

The Clone Wars had been long, okay?

"Now I think I wanna see kids cosplayed as us, having a battle royale..."

Anakin looked thoughtful. "Think it could be a lesson about ethics?"

This was a terrible plan.

"...oh, totally."

"How?" Anakin wondered.

"Well, clearly I represent chaos in an orderly world. And your hair is the forces of good. But just your hair. You're a vessel by which it moves about the world--"

"So the hair of goodness must fight the forces of chaos," Anakin replied thoughtfully. "...why does this sound like a children's cartoon plot?"

"I mighta stolen if from one," Deadpool admitted.

"If this is a recycled Dora plot, I'm going to kick your ass," Anakin said.

"Nah, that would involve a snow princess."

...yeah.

Anakin shuddered. "Swiper no swiping!" he said. "I will kill that damn fox."

And this was why he didn't get to watch a lot of television with Juliet.

"God, I wanna kill that goddamn fox. It's just a horrible lesson for children."

"It is," Anakin agreed. "No show should inspire violence in the parents. It's unethical."

Run, ethics students. Run.

Deadpool sighed, happy to find someone who understood his irrational rage! "We should write a petition. With swords."
