It might have been the start of the fall semester, but it was definitely still summer in Fandom. The sun was shining and the temperature was already starting to get high, even as the NPC crew set things up for the day.

Luckily, the school knew how to take care of folks on days like today. Beneath the blue and gold streamers and balloons, tables had been set up with cold drinks and food, and an entire section devoted to offering up different ~~moddable~~ ice cream flavors. As always, there was a stack of nametags set down next two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and one listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

With everything set up and the crew out of the way, it was time for the picnic to begin!

Fraser had lost count of how many of these he'd attended but that wasn't ever going to stop him from coming. He was out there now, in full uniform, looking refreshed from his trip and pleased with the new arrivals.

"So I hear you're my teaching buddy," Jaina said. Yeah, it was the guy who wouldn't let her keep her lightsaber in the dorms once upon a time.

"That is what I hear as well," Fraser said, smiling pleasantly. "You're a former student, aren't you?"

"Recently, too, depending on what timeline you're looking at," she said. "What is it that teaching buddies actually do, anyway?"

"Since you're probably familiar with the strangeness of the island, I suppose I would just answer any question you have about being a teacher," he answered.

"How often am I allowed to give detention? Is there a limit?"

What?

"I don't think there's a limit but I'd make sure the student deserves the detention before giving it to them," he answered.

"Well, of course." She just tended to be tough. "And if there is no detention, are there guidelines for alternate punishments."

On that, mainly she was just wondering what he'd say.

"Depends on what forms of alternative punishment you were planning on giving," Fraser answered curiously.

"No plans, I'd just rather have guidelines to keep in mind," Jaina said. "But if there aren't any, that works better for me..." Now she was totally teasing.

Fraser could hear teasing now and he smiled a little indulgently. "As long as you don't hurt anyone, I think alternative forms of punishment are left up to teacher discretion."

Jaina grinned and rubbed her hands together. "I can't wait."

Seriously, though, she said, "I think I'll be okay. Show up, talk at them for a while, make sure no one hurts themselves or each other, hope they retained something at the end of class. That's basically it, right?"

"That's basically it, yes," Fraser said. "If you remember all that, I don't think you'll have any trouble."

"And if I do, we've covered detention," she nodded.

"I think you're quite set," Fraser said, nodding. "If you should need me, I'll be around for questions."
