Gym 102, Tuesday - 8/17

It was the last day of class, so what better way to celebrate this than with horribly humiliating sports?

Just be glad he never got it in his head about uniforms, people. They'd be green and tacky and possibly involve crab shaped masks. Yeah. Thanks for that one, Kyle.

"It's your last day here, so we're gonna do something fun." Fun-ish. For Guy. "The staple of gym class, dodgeball."

It was a thing now.

"So, try not to have too much fun before break. And for christ's sake, actually give it an effort."

The ball bounced very close and startled a daydreaming Momoko into actually paying attention. "Hey!" She looked up, wondering who... "Eh? Jaime?! I wasn't playing!"

Well, until now; he was totally not getting away with trying to hit her. She chased after the ball and managed to send it spinning back at him.

Jaime was only half paying attention, so he didn't really notice the incoming ball. So it took him right in the side of the head.

"Ow!"

That... That had been surprisingly easy. And not really fun.

She made her way (dodging balls) over to him. "Jaime! You were supposed to dodge the ball! Are you okay?" She reached out a hand to where the ball had hit.

Where Jaime was holding his hand and frowning. "Ouch. That hurt."

And he'd already had a headache. Which he wasn't going to mention since she might ask where it had come from... And it was the last day of class, so it would be the most awkward day to have to answer that one...

"Ah good, you're okay!" She pulled her hand back and shook her head. "That's why you dodge when the ball is coming at you? Although I didn't mean to hit you in the head. I'm sorry."

"Where were you aiming, then?" Jaime asked. "I thought you had good aim."

Ah, there he had her. "Okay, uhm. I totally aimed for your head? But I knew you'd move! Or I thought you would. Why didn't you?"

"I was distracted," he pointed out. "I wasn't even looking. Couldn't you tell?"

He sounded almost petulant.

"Since I was trying to stay out of the game in the corner over there when you threw a ball at me?" She gave his shoulder a small shove. "What had you so distracted, Mr. TA, that you got hit in the head with a ball thrown by a girl?"

"I wasn't even throwing at you," Jaime objected. "I was just tossing it at random."

Momoko stared at him for a moment. "Do you even know how to play this game? Do they not have dodgeball in El Pasteville? You're supposed to throw the ball at someone and hit them. You get points or something."

"Hey, you were the one trying to sit it out," he pointed out. "Which I note you didn't do very well."

"I was sitting out of it perfectly fine until you threw that ball at me." She folded her arms and raised an eyebrow. "Like I could let you get away with that? You'd never let me live it down."

"I didn't even known I'd thrown it at you," he protested. "And then you smacked me in the head. Now I have a headache." Not that those two were actually connected.

"Technically, I didn't smack you. I threw the ball and the ball hit you when you didn't move." Not that she felt any better for it, if she'd given him a headache.

Jaime rolled his eyes a bit fondly. "Oh, that makes me feel so much better."

He made sure she could see his smile so that she didn't take it too seriously.

She took the headache seriously, yes, but not the blame. He totally should have dodged.

"Well, I totally could smack you? Would that make you feel better?"

"That would be super-mean. I'd have to cancel my invitation to El Paso."

No he wouldn't.

"Ah! The mystical El Poncho?" Momoko's eyes widened. "You've found it then? It really exists?"

"Well, I was going to see if you were up for a trip this weekend, but..." He trailed off and shrugged.

"Ha ha. Very funny, Jaime. But I'm totally not falling for that."

"You don't want to come, then?" Jaime pouted. "My mom's gonna be so disappointed."

"... Wait. You're SERIOUS?" Momoko gaped at him. "I mean, really? Really, REALLY? We're going to El Paso this weekend?"

AWESOME!

"You don't seem to want to," Jaime huffed teasingly.

Not at all, judging by the bouncing in place and squeeeing.

"I've never been anywhere in America except Baltimore, New York, and New Gotham! And I'll get to meet your family! And taste your mom's cooking!"
