Home Ec is Outrageous!; Monday, Period Five [ 08/16 ].

"Good afternoon, my avid academics!" Aquaman greeted the class with the usual brightness and proud smiles, though there were very nearly proud tears lining his eyes as he embarked on his very last chapter in his Fandom High Adventure. To think! No more classes after this! It was enough to make a man weep if it weren't for future adventures ahead of him.

"Can you believe that it is already our very last day of this class? I know I can't! It had truly been an outrageous summer, and you've all worked so hard and well, even against the adversity of certain tasks that may have presented themselves to be a difficult challenge! But what is life without challenges? What is success without a high mountain to climb or a tall hurdle to leap? I hope you are all as proud of yourselves as I am of you! I shall miss you all greatly, but, if you're ever in Atlantis, you'll have to look me up! I'll be the guy on the throne with the crown!"

Although he was pretty sure that, for some, the idea of even going anywhere near an underwater city and time soon...

ANYWAY!

"So, for our very last day, hopefully you have brought your fish back to class and I would like you to tell the class a little about any adventures you and your gilled friend may have had. Then, we'll spend the rest of the hour revisiting our favorite projects! Everything we've worked on, you can work on again. I've got things for cooking, sewing, cleaning, basket weaving, anything you'd like, to really show off what brought you joy and happiness in this particular subject!"

"I shall miss you all greatly! But I can tell there's a bright future in home maintenance ahead of all of you!"

...Sure there was, Aquaman. Sure there was.

Admit it. You're gonna miss the crazy fish guy. And his green tights.

Fish? Kate had no fish, since last week she'd opted for resting and clinging instead of coming to class.

So she was just going to sit here and try to look like she was paying attention.

Cara also didn't have a fish, but this had more to do with her not taking one last week for reasons she didn't even want to acknowledge to herself, let alone talk about with anyone else.

Turn your fish back in (assuming it survived) and share any stories you may have had on your week as a fish mother or father!

And Aquaman will know if you're lying, unless you've bribed your fish to take your side.

Aww, Jonothon was going to miss little Hendrix. He'd been a good distraction from Silent Hill traumas for the past week. Keeping his girlfriend from eating Hendrix had also been a good distraction.

//He came to work with me,// Jono reported. //I don't think he minded too terribly that I played music for him on my guitar.//

And then, because... hell, why not talk like a crazy person in front of the class on the last day?

//I like to think that he was singing along, but unfortunately, I don't speak fish.//

"I do!" Aquaman announced proudly with a grin. At which point he paused, narrowed his eyes at Hendrix and activated fish telepathy powers to get a more definite answer.

Then he chuckled.

"He says," said Aquaman ~~the horrible fish modder~~, "he was always more particular toward Phish!"

//Well,// Jono replied, lifting his shoulders in a shrug and managing not to groan, //I tried, at least.//

At least, he supposed, little Hendrix had good taste. If somewhat predictable.

[Best. Fishmodding. Ever.]

There was a slight pause.

"Ah-ha!" Aquaman added. "He says he's also partial to Billy Ocean, as well. I love that guy!"

//But not Pearl Jam? Really?//

Look, if the fish was going to like blatantly punny music, the least he could do would be to have the decency to acknowledge that Eddie Vedder and company had formed a group with a decently thematic name as well. Right?

Jono was growing steadily disappointed in little Hendrix. You think you connect with a guy...

... Fish... Connect with a fish.

God, Jono needed to get a dog or something.

"My fish died." Cara lied. Badly. "Peacefully. In its sleep. Of natural causes. It was all very sad."

Someone wasn't very skilled in the art of white lies, especially about non-existent fish.

"Oh, how sad!" said Aquaman, frowning deeply. The thing with non-existent fish, dead or otherwise, was that fish telepathy was pretty useless in verifying Cara's story, so he could only really take it for what it was worth. "But how good that he would pass on to the fish afterlife so peacefully. I trust you gave him a proper, traditional burial."

Which, of course, meant flushing him down the toilet.

"What was his, or her, name?"

Cara hadn't thought that far ahead. So she blurted the first name that sprung to mind. "Zedd." Who was going to be so happy to learn that when it came to dead fish of questionable existence, he was the one Cara thought of.

"Poor Zedd was buried with full honours."

Aquaman nodded, pleased by the news. "Everyone!" he announced. "Let us all take a moment of silence to bow our heads and recognize Zedd's noble but short life with a moment of silence!"

And so, the silence ensued, with Aquaman ducking his head and sending a telepathic prayer for the little dead nonexistent fish, and, when that passed, he nodded again clearing his throat and letting the nonexistent fish soul pass into whatever awaited its spirits with these final, pensive words: "Zedd's dead, baby. Zedd's dead."

"Thank you, Cara. I'm sure he enjoyed being under your charge while he still could, and let us use this as a reminded that life is precious and fleeting and may we enjoying it while we can!"

Goomba survived! Chuck actually wasn't a bad pet owner. That almost surprised him.

"I got him a bridge thing!" he announced. "I don't really know why they sell little bridges for fish, but--" It had been cute, and he'd been avoiding the clothes shopping. "And he ate a lot." Probably for the best Chuck only got the little guy for a week. He'd be a very overfed fish.

Aquaman could tell as much, considering that all that Goomba seemed to have to say was, "No...more...fishflakes!"

But he smiled at Chuck and nodded his head approvingly. "They do rather like those bridge things, don't they? Good work, Chuck! I'm glad you enjoyed your time together."

"My fish survived the week, and Lockjaw did not eat it," Medusalith reported. "Which, admittedly, also falls under the category of surviving the week, but involved much more explaining things to the dog."

"Keeping domestic pets from eating fish can be quite the accomplishment!" Aquaman touted happily. "Well done!"

What was your favorite project this semester? Which would you like to spend a little more time doing? Everything from anything in the class, from cooking to cleaning to underwater basket weaving (thanks to some rather large tanks of water) are available for you to just have fun and enjoy the last workshop.

He'll try his best not to cry over the sadness of the summer being almost over.

I'm around for a sliver of the morning and then not, because I AM MOVING. HELLZ YEAH!!

And you guys were an awesome class! ALL THE FISHY STUFF LAST WEEK MADE ME WIBBLE AND WANT TO HUG THE CRAP OUT OF EVERYONE OMG.

I should be interesting; I'll have a trunk full of books and a passenger seat full of cats =D

:D The essentials, then! One of my last moves, it was a bunny carrier full of bird and a cardboard box full of cat, on a bus. And then a train. A-la public transit. So I understand.
