Today was a turtleneck day, for Jono. It was a turtleneck and jeans day for Jono. And tomorrow would probably be the same, and maybe even the day after. Just so long as he could spend a few healthy days with a little bit of distance from anything that would remind him of wet leather.
He'd get over the fact that turtlenecks looked more than a little stupid when rolled clear up over one's nose. Sometimes, you just had to look stupid in order to not look terrifying.
His wardrobe choices for the day having been justified, he was going to settle down, reach for the first book he could see that hadn't been re-shelved, and he was going to read. It was Sunday. He was allowed to be a little lazy, at least for a little while, considering he was the aide who tended to work through his lunch breaks, without fail.

Talk to Jono!
Re: Talk to Jono!
"What," she asked, leaning over to see if she could figure out what he was reading. "Could be more important than working while at work?"
Not that she'd believe him.
Re: Talk to Jono!
He glanced at the cover for a moment, and then held it up for her to see. //Birds of the East Coast, apparently.//
Could she tell he hadn't been paying too much attention?
//I'll make it up through lunch. I'm still waking up, at th'moment.//
Re: Talk to Jono!
It wasn't unless you were Rosalind or someone else with a schedule that meant waking up every day ridiculously early.
Re: Talk to Jono!
//I'd hate to think about what you consider waking up early,// he decided.
Re: Talk to Jono!
Re: Talk to Jono!
He was occasionally inclined to laziness, too, yes.
//I'm also holding down two jobs, and I do manage to get my work done every day before my shift is through. Not to mention being TA in Loki's class, and keepin' my marks up otherwise. I think perhaps yer just not payin' close enough attention to my working habits.//
Re: Talk to Jono!
"Are you telling me I should stalk you to learn your habits? That would cause a great many difficulties that I am not inclined to deal with."
Re: Talk to Jono!
He rolled his eyes.
//Wake up, head to th'library. If I'm bleeding, stand in th'rain on the way, just to complicate matters. Nap as soon as I've made it through the door. Procrastinate on whatever work there is laid out for me in th'day. Whine incessantly about my wardrobe. You know, daily essentials.//
Re: Talk to Jono!
A pause.
"Nice to see you got your shoulder looked after as well."
Re: Talk to Jono!
About everything that had been keeping him out of the clinic, actually. That had worked out nicely.
Re: Talk to Jono!
"Your coat was a loss?"
Re: Talk to Jono!
He gave a little tug at the bottom corner of the shirt he was wearing. It wasn't his first choice by a long shot, but at least it was something.
//It was a good coat, though.//
Re: Talk to Jono!
Re: Talk to Jono!
And yes, he was more upset about the coat than he had been about his shoulder.
Re: Talk to Jono!
"I should not accuse you of vanity?" Rosalind felt sympathetic and yet... not. "It will live on in your memories."
And now you're just being mean, Rosalind.
Re: Talk to Jono!
Really.
//I suppose I ought to have a proper burial for what's left after I recycle the leather?//
He could picture it now. Bugles, that he wouldn't be playing. Somebody dressed in all black. Goodness knew that somebody wouldn't be him, because he was cutting his black clothing into new bandages at an alarming rate.
Re: Talk to Jono!
"If you feel it necessary."
Re: Talk to Jono!
Ah, shrugging.
//I suppose affording a new one shouldn't be too much of a problem, at least.//
Going to get it would still be. But he could certainly pay for one.
Re: Talk to Jono!
No need to strip.
"As for covering your mouth... you are a teenager. You are meant to be unusual in the eyes of adults. If you need someone to speak for you, well, I have already said I would go."
Re: Talk to Jono!
No, really. He'd be doomed if he was ever faced with a person who did know it. They'd ask him why he was flapping his hands about, saying complete gibberish with the occasional mention of burritos.
Re: Talk to Jono!
"Perhaps you ought to learn it," she noted. "To make things simpler."
