First Aid - Danger Shop, Friday, Period 5 [Week 4]

The Danger Shop looked a lot like last week, only this time there were piles of foam bones placed around the room.

"Today is a four step class," Hawkeye declared. "Step one: you're going to learn how to treat a suspected broken or fractured bone. Step three: we're going to learn a song. Step four: you're going to put the song into practice and put those bones together in the right order. There was a step two, but I stepped over it, so let's use it as a stepping stone to the other steps by missing the step."

"Works for me, man," Alex said once he realized who was talking to him and how he was talking. Thankfully, he was used to Emma's mental voice so he adjusted easily. "Got a preference on which bone you want me to fix up?"

"Yeah, probably be better to make it easier to show that I can do this," Alex said, nodding. "Bad break or something typical?"

Jono shrugged out of his coat, hesitated with it for a moment, and then just tied it around his waist. It was the convenient place to put it, really.

//If you want t'prove that you know what yer doing, then we might as well say it's a bad one,// he mused. //Broken skin, bone sticking out. You can figure out where that's going on, perhaps. I don't want to take away all th'challenge.//

"Way to mess up your arm, dude," Alex said, snickering. "I'm Alex. Should probably get introduced to the guy you're about to get treatment from, fake or not."

He offered his arm to Alex, raising an eyebrow slightly. //And I believe I'm bleeding profusely. In spurts. Horrible mess, really.//

Wasn't it weird how a British accent could make things like that sound classy, somehow?

"You're just gonna get shit all over my shirt," Alex chided lightly, snickering and starting about treating Jono. You're talking to me so that's airway and breathing. Circulation is probably good since you're spurting blood at me."

Alex grabbed some dressed and went about trying to stop the bleeding on Jono's arm firstly.

Well, it was about as close to airway and breathing as Jono ever got. He'd let it slide just this once, if it meant he didn't have to just out and confess that he hadn't had to worry about either for well over a year, now.

//Mmm, but I'll likely be getting lightheaded soon enough, standing here like this. Perhaps I should start swooning, now? Or just screaming. This seems like a 'screaming' sort of injury.//

Hint: Nobody wants to hear Jono scream. It causes migraines.

"Yeah, let's not scream," he said, grabbing for the nearest chair and nodding at it. "Sit, man. If it's gets too bad, I'll get you flat on your back but let's do the chair."

He was entirely too amused for an individual with a spurting arm wound and jagged bone rending open raw flesh. Or else he was just that hardcore. //So, what now?//

"Now, I've gotta get the bleeding stopped or, at least, slowed and get the swelling down," Alex said. "And then hope the ambulance drives really fucking fast."

//Well, it is an ambulance. That's what it does. Hopefully.// Jono shrugged the shoulder that wasn't attached to the wounded arm. //Well, then let's slow this bleeding down, shall we? I'll try to hold still, but I won't make any promises, as I'm in a fair bit of agony at the moment, and all. Really, it's a miracle I'm so coherent as it is.//

"If you move too much, I'll punch you to knock you out," Alex said, not really meaning it even as he got some dressing and wrapped it around where he assumed the bleeding would be.

That said, he was totally being a good boy and holding still. He fully expected a lollipop for behaving, after this.

"Well, I could just leave you unconscious and claim I didn't know how to treat you," Alex said, getting the bleeding wrapped. "Now, I'm supposed to ice it to keep the swelling down and not move it at all."

Jono took a moment to inspect the wrapping with a somewhat critical eye. he did consider himself to be something of a professional in that regard, after all.

//Not bad,// he decided. //Not bad at all.//

He felt like a bloody mummy. More than usual.

"Let's go with basic fracture, no bone snapping in two but it's pretty painful," Alex said. "And my ankle's swollen up to the size of a pineapple."

Jono winced one eye a little at the description.

//A pineapple? Well, that's no bloody good. Yer breathing, are yer? I can't do more than chest compressions if yer not, so you better bloody well be breathing,// Jono warned.
