First Aid - Danger Shop, Friday, Period 5 [Week 4]

The Danger Shop looked a lot like last week, only this time there were piles of foam bones placed around the room.

"Today is a four step class," Hawkeye declared. "Step one: you're going to learn how to treat a suspected broken or fractured bone. Step three: we're going to learn a song. Step four: you're going to put the song into practice and put those bones together in the right order. There was a step two, but I stepped over it, so let's use it as a stepping stone to the other steps by missing the step."

//Nothing's about to fall off?// Jono looked up at Alex, amused, yes. //Then yer shoe can bloody well stay. We'll let th'doctors cut it off, if it comes to that. For now, I suppose we'll settle for a splint. With a pillow. Pillow splint. To keep it still until said ambulance arrives. And then ice. For that pineapple of yers.//

It was good to know that Jono could almost piece together the beginnings of a plan in the face of a swollen ankle. Honestly now, Jono.

"Pillow splint sounds pretty comfortable," Alex agreed, nodding. "I think everything's good and attached, don't worry. Just hurts a lot and I can't walk. Not feeling like I'm gonna pass out or anything."

//So this is more a pain in the arse than a serious medical emergency,// Jono replied, nodding. That was a relief, at least. He'd just make a grab for... Well, there wasn't exactly a wealth of pillows in here, so he'd wad up his coat, instead. He wasn't wearing it at the moment anyhow.

//It's a pillow,// he stated. And in doing so, it had to be. So there.

"Looks like a pillow to me," he agreed, nodding. "No need for finesse here. I'm not gonna bitch like a whiny baby."

//Good. Pillow. Foot. Splint.// And lo, it was so, as Jono placed the 'pillow' under Alex's leg, folded it up and over, and then reached for the tape in order to secure it into place.

He was going to want that pillow back when they were finished, here.

//And then... We ice that bloody thing, and get you to the hospital.//

Ta-da!

Alex would be glad to give the pillow back, don't worry. He didn't have need for Jono's coat.

"I think I feel better already," Alex said, smirking. "Good job."

//Mm, I did better once I stopped pointing out all of th'things I couldn't do,// Jono replied. There was a hint of a sigh somewhere in there, at that. //You have full permission to punch me out if I start on something like that again. Alright, mate?//

... Jono would spend a lot of time unconscious, if anybody ever went and took him up on offers like this one.

"Punching people is something I do quite well," Alex said, moving to take the splint off so he could give Jono his jacket back. "I think it's safe to say we'd do all right if there were broken bones around us."

Jono took back his jacket, nodded his thanks, and then after taking a moment to unwrap his arm, he pulled it on.

//Well enough to keep a person until somebody who knows better comes along, at least. Which is better than a kick in th'teeth.//
