"Yo, Rookies!" Hark, was that the territorial call of the wild Reno in his natural habitat? Oh, it totally was. "Bit of a change of pace for you this week, yo. When this period ends, you're all on a mission, yo. This week, I ain't gonna be the teacher."

He smirked, and then set out on that slow, deliberate saunter of his, walking paces back and forth in front of the class.

"Half of you are. And half of you are gonna be the rookies. All you teachers? It's gonna be your job to look out for the rookies this week. Rookies? It's your job to be... rookies. Make like you don't know nothin'. Give your teacher a rough time, yo. Do whatever it is you figure rookies do."

He nodded at the board, where he'd scrawled out the names of the two groups.

"Today, just pair off, figure out what it is you're gonna be rookies at. You can teach and learn just about anything, but be prepared to tell me next week what it was you did and how it went, yo. Teachers? Word of advice? Just because you got some theoretical kinda power right now don't mean you get to abuse it. If you're gonna tell 'em to run laps around the island, you damn well better be prepared to run 'em too. And you better be better at it. They ain't gonna respect you if you don't come off as competent, yo. They're your rookies, so it's up to you to set an example, here."

He smirked, and then waved his hands at the class.

"Go on, get to it. Don't let me keep you waitin', yo."

Teachers! Tell your Rookies what it is that you have to teach them! Rookies? Tell your teacher if you already know this stuff. Because seriously, there's not a heck of a lot of point to being the Rookie if you're better at it than the person in charge. It can be anything from coaching as a runner to training in self-defence to cooking or first-aid training. What do you have to offer? What do you want to learn?

One of them doesn't get to sit out of this assignment just because she's the TA, and the other is getting out of this only because she's a graduate who is permanently stuck in Rookie mode anyhow.

Totally not a Rookie, thanks.

You guys can play out or handwave the assignment throughout the week as you all see fit. Really, I just want you to all have fun with it. No stress here, kay?

. . . so it was kind of like a master-apprentice pairing. Which Tahiri had to find slightly amusing, given that she'd only been a full Knight for a few months now. (Maybe it was close to a year, factoring in the time difference from home.)

But, she wondered, tapping a finger against her chin, what was she particularly good at that she could teach? Recovering from being slightly insane? Appreciating ice cream? Huh. This might take some communication.

. . . yeah, that wasn't one of her strong points either.

Tahiri tried to look as knowledgeable as a diminutive seventeen-year-old . . . war veteran . . . yeah.

Okay, maybe she might have a few things to teach after all, depending on who she picked out for a Rookie.

. . . that was still a funny word.

Jenny Sparks

Jenny was excellent at many things, but most of them weren't the sort of skill you taught high schoolers. This could be interesting. And fun, as long as no one got arrested.

Jenny considered her options as far as ~~minions~~ rookies went as she lit up a fresh cigarette. Mmm, delicious smoke.

Yamanaka Ino

Ino was busy sulking at that board of his the moment he got far enough through his lecture to really explain it.

Hmph.

Ino? Ino was going to eye the 'teachers' dubiously and try and decide just how much of a brat of a Rookie she wanted to be.

... What? That was half the point of being a Rookie!

Chloe Saunders

Chloe really was wondering what Reno must have been thinking when he came up with this.

Chloe had no idea what kind of teacher she could be for this assignment. In fact she was pretty sure that Reno had made a mistake. He couldn't seriously want her to be one of the teachers. Hell, she could barely talk to people sometimes.

Ben Skywalker

Ben shot her an amused look. With the way Reno had set things up, at least they couldn't end up in some kind of bizarre Master-apprentice pairing themselves?

Because that would have been awkward.

"Hello ~~first potential minion who's signed in~~," Ben said with a smile.

She transferred her eyeing to him. Clearly she was the best Rookie! ~~With her magical signing in early powers, or something.~~

And, alright, smiled a bit. "I'm no easy Rookie," Ino warned him. "You can ask Reno that, even. But hello."

"I wouldn't know what to do with someone who made it easy," Ben said with a wry little laugh. "I was thinking of teaching you how to fly. Does that sound okay? I can't teach you to be a Jedi in a week."

Karla

... it was kinda funny how that made the whole week look that much better.

"It's a good choice," she admitted, "since I don't know how 'less I'm using the staff Liir gave me."

A beat.

"I'd make a kick-ass Jedi, though. Just so you know."
