When they walked into the Danger Shop, the students would find themselves in the Australian bush. Mick was leaning against a gum tree, watching them from under his hat.

"G'day and welcome to the bush. Not the real bush, mind, cause I reckon you lot'd end up dead right quick, but the blokes in the office did a good job setting this up. Today you're gonna learn about critters, and how a bunch of them can kill you. Even these little blighters." He reached down and picked up an adorable platypus, holding it out for the class to see. "Poisonous spurs in his feet. Even if it doesn't kill you, it hurts so bad you'll wish you were dead." He grinned. "Mate of mine reckons they're cute, but don't let that fool you. Just cause somethin's cute or looks harmless, don't mean it won't see you dead. And just cause it's ugly don't mean it'll hurt you. Not a bad lesson to learn, that."

He put the platypus down and it waddled away into the billabong with a offended splash. "Now, I could give you a lot of books or spend my time telling you all about them, but that's no fun." Another grin. Be afraid. "Instead, you're gonna meet a bunch of Aus' critters face to face. Now, the Outback has got more'n its fair share of things that'll kill you, but its not the only place. What you've gotta do is watch, listen, stay sharp. Look at how things move, how they act. You know what something's gonna do, you can stay out of trouble, but if you wanna know that, you've gotta pay attention. Don't just react. Think'n then act."

He hit a button and a door appeared. "Off you go, one at a time 'cause I wanna see what you do on your own. When you're done just say 'hooroo' and the door'll appear. No worries, nothing will actually hurt you, but still, try'n stay outta trouble."

Worry, try and figure out the accent, stare at the adorable platypus, whatever.

Cara might have spent most of the previous night attacking flowers, but she didn't look worse much for the wear.

Still, she perked up slightly at the 'cute but deadly' parts of the lecture.

Jonas found himself a little nervous about this lecture, real or not. Most things made him nervous though so he dismissed it and tried to concentrate on the excitement part of getting to learn about new animals up close.

Clark tried focusing on whatever those words coming out of Mick's mouth could possibly mean for class and his performance today, though he was a little torn into glancing dildo girl's way. Uh, he should probably think of her as Cara now. Maybe.

For her part, Cara wasn't so much ignoring Clark as not seeing any pressing reason to acknowledge his presence.

And silently thanking the spirits that he didn't seem to have any flowers on him.

This didn't stop Clark from thinking she was ignoring him, and he tried to catch her eye to smile dorkily at her.

Since she wasn't actually ignoring him, eventually Cara did glance in Clark's direction.

The slightly confused expression was her default for this class, it probably didn't mean anything. Probably.

The lack of a return smile had Clark wondering what was up and he was bold enough to wander closer to find out. "You look confused," he said, stating the obvious.

"This is a confusing class," Cara replied, also pointing out the obvious.

There was still a lack of flowers, this was a good sign.

"Probably the foreign language the teacher speaks," Clark agreed with a nod. "But hey, ugly things might not hurt us, so bonus?"

That actually got a smile. "They definitely won't hurt some of us."

Okay, so maybe he liked her smile more than he probably should for healthy living. "Nah, some of us are a little more rough and tumble than we look."

"So I've noticed." That could have been in general or referring to a specific example, but Cara did look very pleased with herself when she said it.

Clark totally blushed, regardless of her intent. "You are the kind of girl who notices a lot of stuff," he commented, trying to cover that redness.

"It's my job to be." Unobservant Mord'Sith were inefficient Mord'Sith, but usually not for very long.

"Right, the bodyguard's gotta pay attention," said the bartender. "I for one won't be placing any bets against you." That quiet kid though? Clark had his doubts.

"And it's things like that that prove you're more than just a pretty face." Look, it was fun to say things that made him blush.

Totally unfair of her. "Hey, you already made me prove that one," he pointed out with another flush. "Uh, kind of."

"Are you saying you don't think you proved it well enough last time?" Cara wasn't entirely sure the implied offer in there was the best idea, since men tended to get all emotional if you slept with them more than once, but he hadn't turned clingy on her so far.

So far.

Wait, had she just said what he thought she said? "Well, there's only one way to really prove it..."

Yes, yes she had. At least if what he thought she said was what she was trying to say. "Is there really?"

Oh how his mom would have a fit at him for this sort of behavior. This was not what he was in Fandom for.

"You know," Clark prodded, "by doing. It." That was less cool than he'd hoped. "Again."

It was a miracle he'd shut up long enough to interest her earlier in the week.

It was a good thing Cara wasn't really looking for suaveness from him, that and the fact that no one in the entire Midlands would ever say that to a Mord'Sith (well no one without a death wish) amused her. "Then maybe we should."

Really? Platupi were poisonous? That was news to Robin. They were also a lot smaller than he'd thought.

...if there was a cave, James would not go in. Just listening to the lecture made sneaking around a moredhel camp sound more healthy.
