Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

The weather was still lovely, of course. And there were all these neat tables of moddable snackies to help break those awkward silences that were so common with teenage get-togethers.

So... yeah.

Enjoy!

She bit her lip. He had seemed... mostly tolerable.

"I could--try?" So very dubiously. "A little?"

A tiny amount.

"I've just never d--had the time."

Tolerable? Hey, that was a step up or something.

He smiled at her. "No one said you've got to start big. Eat chocolate or ice cream. Watch a movie. Read a book if you enjoy that sort of thing. Pull a prank. Mock the newbies and break their brains. You might have to wait until September for that."

"I wouldn't want to," she said, frowning. "That doesn't sound fun at all."

"What? All of it?" he frowned. "Or just the brain breaking? It's kind of inevitable."

"Pranks and brain breaking," she said, a bit stiffly. "I enjoy reading."

"Okay then, we at least know in which direction to look," he chuckled. "The school's got a pretty big library."

For the first time, Rosalind looked quietly interested.

"I'll have to look into that." See what this world had to offer for books.

"Uh huh," he nodded. "Don't forget to come out again and enjoy the sun." She looked like she hadn't been getting enough of that.

"I get out plenty," she informed him haughtily.

... Just not in the last two and a half months.

"Good then I don't need to come drag you out," he grinned. He was joking. Probably. "It's less embarrassing for everyone."

"Would you really do that?" she asked, resisting the urge to cross her arms. "To someone you just met?"

"Maybe," he smirked at her. "Make it a challenge and then definitely."

What had she gotten herself into?

Hmph.

"I'll let you figure out where I'm rooming then," she informed him, a little sharply. "Since you're fond of challenges."

[identity profile] need-no-moon.livejournal.com 2010-05-09 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
"That almost sounds like you're already trying to get rid of me," he remarked, sounding more amused than anything else.

"If that's too complicated for you then you're not up to much of a challenge."

Someone was arrogant, yes.

He raised an eyebrow. "I'm up for a challenge," he assured her. He could just go look at the sheet with the room assignments. "You like muffins?"

She gave him a look like he was crazy.

"Muffins?"

Re: General Mingling (Summer 2010)

[identity profile] need-no-moon.livejournal.com 2010-05-09 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
"You'll see," he decided that was just going to be easier.

[identity profile] give-areason.livejournal.com 2010-05-09 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
And now she knew he was crazy.

"I'll see," Rosalind said faintly. Fantastic. Well--muffins. How bad could it be?

[identity profile] need-no-moon.livejournal.com 2010-05-09 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
"It's good," he acquiesced at her tone. "It's something to eat."

Re: General Mingling (Summer 2010)

[identity profile] give-areason.livejournal.com 2010-05-09 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm not an idiot," she said, bristling. "I know what muffins are."

Rosalind was just failing at connecting the dots from 'being dragged out' to 'muffins'. Yes.

[identity profile] need-no-moon.livejournal.com 2010-05-09 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. Jake had long since moved on as she'd given him a different challenge by now.

He held up his hands in peace offering. "Sorry, I thought you might not have those where you're from."

[identity profile] give-areason.livejournal.com 2010-05-09 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
She was so doomed.

"We have muffins," Rosalind said firmly. They did.

[identity profile] need-no-moon.livejournal.com 2010-05-09 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Good to know," he said easily as if the whole getting her annoyed thing hadn't happened. "It'd be sad growing up without muffins."
