Children, children everywhere.

Again. Only, this time it seemed to be other residents of the island, instead of their possible future offspring, which somehow made Jono quite thrilled that it hadn't touched him. The last thing he needed was to be five years old again. He hadn't been much of a fan of it the first time around.

That said, it was entirely possible that he was going to entertain himself today by pulling out the children's books once again.

... And possibly flipping through a few that he vaguely remembered from his own childhood. Shut up.

There was a long, long pause there, and then Jono was squinting a little again, trying to figure out what to make of that.

He just had to make sure.

"Only kinna," she said, offering a smile because she didn't want him to feel bad. "You're a grownup! But not old like Gran or anything."

And now he was trying to picture himself in fifty years. The mental image made his brain ache a bit.

//Good to know...// Sigh. //I think there are some books about sleep down that aisle there,// he added, waving in that general direction. //Mostly, they're about how yer can get sick if yer don't get enough of it, though.//

"I won't get sick! I stayed up late late last night doing radios and I'm not sickies," she told him happily. "But then I fell asleeps so I gotta figure out what to do."

Children would be children. Who was he to attempt to speak sense to them when they'd just crash out on their own anyhow?

"No, Bobby loveses the cold. I don't." Sookie made a face as she started toddling towards the stacks. "I like the sunshine! I'm from Louisianananananaaaaaaaaa an' it's hot there. Sometimes it's so hot that my hair has t'get big 'cause it's hot."

That made very little sense.

Very, very, surprisingly little. But when she was speaking to a boy whose hair stood on end when he unwrapped his bandages, at least he could nod and pretend that he knew what she was getting at, there.

//Plenty hot, then. In London, we mostly have rain.//

And fog. And other assorted weather.

He rounded another corner, and then crossed his arms over his chest, looking up at the books in front of him. There was one on insomnia. That looked promising, at least.

"Where's London?" Sookie wondered, staring up at the books. They had big words on them. That was bad. She still needed books with little words, mostly.

A pause while he idly flipped through the book in his hand.

//And Paddington Bear.//

[Or meta for the above. Except the Queen. I don't think she needs to be Meta'd.]

"I looooove Paddington! He's got a raincoat," Sookie recalled helpfully, standing on tip-toes to look at that book.

There were lots of interesting words, like 'sleep apnoea,' and 'benzodiazephines.'

//I'm pretty certain that Paddington sleeps at night, too. He's a wicked little bear like that.//

"Yeah, but we're gonna make a no-sleeps fort. If Paddington had a no-sleeps fort, he wouldn't sleep," she assured him, frowning at the Very Big Words.

Jonothon's knowledge of children's entertainment astounded even him, yes.

"What's a Peru?" Sookie wondered, her eyes wide. It sounded scary.
