"There's a very famous story on this world, of the lady or the tiger. The king in this tale has his own sense of justice: instead of a court system, he had an arena with two doors. Behind one door was a beautiful woman, handpicked by the king. Behind the other was a tiger. If you chose the tiger, you were eaten and declared guilty. If you chose the lady, you were considered innocent and married the lady. The king didn't care about your current marital status or sexual orientation, apparently."

He leaned back against his desk. "One day the king discovered that his daughter had been having an affair with someone far below her station, so the man was arrested and tossed into the arena. Now the princess knew which door has what behind it, and her lover looked up to her for advice. She had two choices: watch her love die, or watch him marry another woman. The story ends with the princess telling him which door to open, but leaves us hanging as to what waited behind it."

Anakin smiled. "Your task today is two-fold. First, pair up with a classmate and decide what the princess did. Then tell me what you would have done in the princess's place."

Try not to wonder, as Anakin is, if the stuffed tiger will have an opinion on this.

Claire was there and listening but also slightly distracted. Some of the things Melody told her made her realize that she absolutely had to find her Peter and Nathan. She had a portal booked for Thursday morning, right after Deadpool's class.

Hobbes thought it was terribly cruel to promise the tiger dinner when there was only a fifty-fifty chance of delivering.

Calvin was inclined to agree.

Happily ever after or tiger chow? Which does she choose?

There was only one choice as far as Leia was concerned, but she waited to discuss it with someone.

"Hey, wanna work together?" Claire asked.

"Sure," Leia said. "What's your answer?"

"I think she would have chosen the girl," Claire said. "Because if she truly loved him, she'd rather have him alive even if they can't be together than dead."

The choice seemed somewhat obvious to Bod so he was tapping his pencil and thinking about it while he waited for a partner.

"I wouldn't let my father get away with that," Leia insisted. "I'd find another way to free the man I loved."

"Well... me as I am right now?" Claire asked. "I'd probably go with the tiger and then secretly heal my lover and hide him from my father."

Because that surely couldn't go wrong.

Zack gave his shoulders a light shrug.

"I could live without somebody, knowing that it meant they were still alive. Killing somebody you love because you can't have them... I'd say that means that you don't love them nearly as much as you want them to think you do, anyhow."

There was a TA and he was pleased that at least he wasn't a princess who had to make shitty choices. And that he wasn't stupid enough to date anyone who lived in a castle because that was the obvious problem with this story.

Hello there, little black rain cloud randomly above Anakin's head.

"I thought you knew," he retorted, moving immediately onto more important things. "Chuck Bass? Really?"

"Don't look at me," Leia said, rolling her eyes. "That was some other Leia. One who was either careless or decided she was in love with him." It was getting far too easy to refer to alternate versions of herself now.
