An eight-year-old boy stood in front of the classroom today, as Tyler sat at his desk with a look that was half amusement and half terror on his face.

"Hey, I'm Miles," the boy said. "So I kept coming up with really cool ideas for classes, and Dad kept saying he was teaching philosophy, not science, so we can't make stuff blow up or build anything. And I said that was really boring, and he said too bad. And then I asked if I could teach if I came up with the class discussion topic. And he said sure, 'cause he didn't think I could."

"So I asked if God could make a sandwich so big he couldn't eat it. And he said that was something called the --" Forgetting the phrase, he looked to Tyler for guidance.

"Omnipotence paradox," Tyler supplied,passing around a handout. "We're going back to our discussions of God to talk about the omnipotence paradox."

"Right," Miles agreed. "Ommip'tence pair-docks. And I said that was still gonna be boring, and he said it was my idea and we were doing it." He gestured to the back of the room. "He let me bring my invisible ink kit, too, if anybody wants to do that instead."

"Do you help Alfred out at the clocktower, too?"

"With cookies!" Lena grinned at him, then said more seriously, "And watching the glowy map for where Mommy is when she goes out."

"That's very important. That way you can help make sure that Mommy doesn't do anything stu -- uh. Foolish."

"Silly," Lena had to agree. "Does she really jump off roofs for fun here?" 'Cause that sounded kind of fun, but kind of Way Against the Rules. "You're not silly, you don't do that, do you Daddy?"

"I definitely don't." Except that one time that Dinah talked him into it. "As far as I know, she hasn't done that in awhile."

"That's good. She could get hurt!" Lena did not want that to happen. It was one thing for her to do silly things, but Mommies couldn't. And daddies. "Daddy, will you make us lunch? Good lunch?"

"Hmmm." Priestly pretended to consider it. "Define 'good lunch'."

"Soup, and sandwich wraps, and cookies, and maybe a smoothie?" Lena wheedled. Good thing she had her mom's metabolism. "With good sprouts and peppers in the wrap and berries in the smoothie?" Nom! "You pick which! They're all good!"

Priestly laughed. "My, you're demanding."

"They're all so good!" Lena grinned at him. "Pleeeease. I'll help! I'll make your sandwich!"

Priestly rubbed his goatee. "Hmm, I don't know. . . ."

"I'll help clean up, just like always! I'll set the table too, with the napkins and everything?" Lena was giggling by now. "Daddeeeee..."

"Weeeeeeeell . . . ."

What? It was his right as being unexpectedly her father to tease the crap out of her.

"I'll tell everyone you're the best chef ever! Even more than usual! Chef Super!" Lena leaned against him, and hugged his arm. "Sous!"

"You're laying it on a little thick there, you know," Priestly advised her. "Folks might start to get suspicious."

"Chef Dad?" Lena checked, still grinning. "Cool Chef Dude?... Lunchmaker Guy? That's not as punchy, though."

"True. Okay, you've twisted my arm."

"Yes! Woo! Lunch with you!" Lena chanted.
