Build Your Own Philosophy, Period 2, 3/29/10

The class would find a note on the usual classroom door asking them to meet outside on the basketball court. When they got there, they'd find Tyler in workout clothes and bouncing a basketball. He was cheerfully ignoring any lingering drizzle.

"I figured we all needed some time with fresh air with no monsters around," he said. "So today, this is gym class and we're playing basketball. This group" -- gesture to about half the students -- "is the red team, and the rest of you are blue."

"If you don't know how to play, you want to put the ball through the hoop. The people on the other team don't want to let you. You can't just carry the ball, you have to pass to a teammate or dribble, like this." He demonstrated, and explained a few other rules as he did.

"If you don't like team sports or you're still healing up, sit on the sidelines and find another way to keep busy for the rest of the hour. Or just breathe."

He was into the breathing part, yeah.

"Andy and I have not yet reached that stage in our relationship," Raven said. "I do not think I have to learn anything. Yet."

"Well believe me," Hayley said. "When you do have to, I can help." She smiled. "Least I can do for everything you've done for me, right?"

"You are experienced in...such things?" Raven said. No, she wasn't going to unturn red for awhile.

"A bit, yeah," Hayley said. "The nuns definitely didn't like it." She huffed, blowing the bangs out of her eyes. "But Roy Harper sure did."

"...not the one here."

"You know Roy in your world?" Raven said, giving Hayley an interested look. No, not that kind of interest. "I have not met him in mine, but I have not met many people in my world."

"Oh, I know someone named Roy Harper," Hayley said. "I don't think they're the same people. That'd just be silly." She shook her head back and forth.
