Horror 101, Monday

"I think you've all had your fair share of horror last week," Mitchell announced, "But I'm fairly sure half your teachers are going to give you movie classes now, so I thought I'd try and get creative."

Fear, class. Fear.

"That's why we've gathered in the Danger Shop today," he continued. "I thought it would be nice for some hands-on practice. See, we've got all of these fears we're working on and working with, but many of them, as I've said, come down to what we fear in ourselves."

A pause.

"These things tend to start in childhood," he said, "And work their way up. So today, we are going to be regressing."

He opened the door behind him and revealed--

"Today, you're going to Eurodisney!" A pause. "I'll be expecting at least two of you to get into a fight," he said, solemnly. "If you do, use something padded."

A beat, in case they thought he'd completely lost it-- "If you need me this week, I'll be spending most of it in Bristol. So use the phone."

And that would appear to be it.

After last week, and with a (mercifully silent) droid baby in tow, Effy was not about to complain about a mini-vacation. No way. Even with the loss of the fog she was still feeling distinctly off.

With this at least, she could sit back, eat candyfloss, and think about her last real trip here. The lack of people in a place like this was a vast improvement in her opinion.

Alex wasn't going to bother with the rides for the time being. Instead, he grabbed a drink, found some shade, slid his sunglasses on and decided he'd just relax for a bit.

Maybe now that the fog was gone, he'd sleep a little better. Or maybe he wouldn't. As it was, he hadn't gotten much since Tuesday but wasn't letting it show. He wasn't some wimp.

The emptiness was the spookiest part of this.

Or maybe the people in giant furry costumes. Jack couldn't quite decide. Still, at least it wasn't foggy, which counted for something.

"I think this is the scariest class so far," Jack ventured.

He wasn't checking up on Alex. Exactly. But it seemed like a reasonable time to say hello.

"I suppose movie week wouldn't be much of a break for this class," Jack offered, deliberately keeping his back to the creepy people in giant costumes as he talked to Mitchell. "Hi."

"Don't like amusement parks, Jack?" Alex asked, peering up at the other boy from behind his sunglasses. "Thought you'd be proud to be tall enough to ride the rides."

Emma hadn't been to Eurodisney in years, not since that one horrid vacation that had resulted in needing to pick Cordelia up from warehouse while Christian bribed the cops, and then smuggling her back into her room under Winston's nose, only to have Adrienne rat all three of them out the next morning.

Family vacations with the Frost family were Special.

It was creepier without all the people, really, and Emma was just going to find a nice spot where she could have a good view and sip her over-priced latte. Well away from any silent, creepy buildings, or people in costumes.

"See, now that would make my day," Alex said and then gestured to the spot of bench beside him. "Only thing that would make it better is if he were in one of these weird ass costumes."

"I thought I'd keep things unpredictable," Mitchell agreed, popping another kernel into his mouth. "Made it through the fog unscathed?"

... because Effy and Emma would burst into song any day now. Right.

"And now I have Mitchell dressed in that mouse outfit in my head and I can't un-see it. Thank you, Alex."

Kate was wandering around pretty aimlessly, just enjoying herself and the freedom, even though it was all fake.

She wasn't letting the lack of other people bother her right now, although it usually would've. It actually felt refreshing, after being stuck in the same damn building all week.

"Always happy to be of assistance," Alex said, shrugging. "I think you'd be the one that could get Emma to dance. Make puppy eyes at her or something. Tell her I'm hungover and need a pick me up."
