World Mythology -- Third Period -- Monday

Ghanima had flung open all the classroom windows today, letting in as much fresh air as possible. The desks were gone, replaced with the large fluffy pillows that the students most likely knew to associate with a movie day. Today, however, they'd only be half-right.

"Hello, students," she said once everyone had arrived. "I handwavily was away last week, just getting in this morning, and I understand you had an unfortunate encounter."

"So today, we'll be watching a movie, and then you'll grab some weapons and go outside to reenact it as you like. And yes, you may keep your swords."

[OOC: Going up early in case work eats me. Wait for the fluffy OCD is on the loose!]

Raven was definitely abstaining from swordplay. Even though she knew the weapons were padded and no one was being hurt, it still made her uncomfortable.

Oh, don't think Jaina wouldn't kick someone's ass left-handed with a Nerf sword.

Next week. This week she was just going to look cool with it.

Okay, look, Tahiri was not supposed to be the Jedi who came out of the weekend relatively unscathed. That just was not supposed to happen. If there was anything lingering from getting attacked last week, it was more curiosity and concern than resentment.

Still, Nerf swords. Fun.

. . . wait. Nerf?

Relatively more awake after the nap movie, Jacob had picked the long sword. Yes, because it was bigger. No, he wasn't compensating.

Curious to see how this would go, he tried to lightly tap Tahiri on her shoulder with it. As way of greeting, really.

That was a distinctly humanoid shape coming up toward her, but the Force presence she sensed was the same one she'd encountered in wolf form out on the streets the other day, and Tahiri turned around with a reassuring smile.

"Hi, Jacob." She raised her own Nerf (but these things were made of foam, not . . . okay, that was too weird to think about) sword in a gesture of greeting. "You're looking better today."

"Hey, I always look good," he said oh so modestly and he tapped himself on the back with the sword. "You're smelling better."

"So are you," Tahiri retorted, swatting lightly at him with the flat of her foam blade. "Nice to see your ego recovered at about twice the rate as the rest of you."

Which was saying something since he didn't have a mark on him despite the multiple times he'd gotten his ass kicked. "I try, there's actually some complicated calculations between the two, but I'm not really a maths geek so I haven't bothered to look into it."

"I know a race of mathematical geniuses I can probably put you in touch with if you really want to figure it out," Tahiri told him. Because who didn't want to meet the Givin and their Scream masks creepy skeletal heads? "So, figure out what kind of toothpaste I owe you yet?"

"Mint works," he said. "I'm a pretty straight forward kind of guy." For a werewolf. "I'll pass up on the eggheads, but thanks."

"Mint it is," Tahiri agreed. "I promised, after all. Can't go back on a deal."

She glanced around the class with a thoughtful expression on her face. "You've met Firekeeper -- um, Blysse, and Blind Seer, haven't you?"

"I'm holding you to it," he assured her, because he'd spent entirely too much time stuffing himself once everything was done and he swore he could still taste monkey.

At her question, he glanced across the room and nodded. "She knows," he said, taking a wild guess this was what Tahiri was getting at.

"She's really perceptive that way," Tahiri said by way of confirmation, and grinned. "She and I have a few things in common, but that's not one of them, so I'm glad."

"Well, she found out the way you did," Jacob laughed. "It's kind of hard to miss then." What with the whole huge wolf sitting in front of her and all. "Just with less moneyponies."

"And less fog, I imagine," Tahiri added. "So less hallucination. Which makes for a slightly less awkward first impression. They're really good friends of mine, both of them." That statement probably wasn't necessary; the affection in her voice was evident.

"She's cool," Jacob had to agree. "I hadn't actually talked to wolves like them before. My pack's pretty intrigued by it."

"I imagine they would be." Tahiri tucked a lock of hair behind her ear. Then, in a typically abrupt change of subject, "So did you spend all week doing that?"

He blinked and rubbed a hand through his hair, sword forgotten by now. "Yeah, didn't you?"

"Mostly, yeah," Tahiri replied, nodding. "Well, most of the weekend, at least. Only after it was obvious they weren't going to stand down."

Re: Outside

[identity profile] need-no-moon.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Jacob raised an eyebrow. "You thought they'd listen to reason?"

Re: Outside

[personal profile] weetuskenraider 2010-03-29 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Tahiri shrugged awkwardly. She tended to think about this more now than she had, mostly because she was trying to keep an eye on her more warriorlike instincts. "I'd prefer not to kill indiscriminately. It goes against what we believe as Jedi. Ideally, we're supposed to avoid killing at all if possible, but . . ." Well, how often did ideals ever match up against reality? Every time she asked herself that question, she felt a little older.

[identity profile] need-no-moon.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sure, but... they were kind of killing indiscriminately. Or would have if they could," he pointed out. Jacob's world was a bit too black and white.

Firekeeper wasn't harboring much resentment- the trespassing wolves, after all, had been dealt with. She was perhaps a little bit sorry that her mun was made of fail she hadn't been able to participate in getting rid of them.

She was, however, going to hold the 'sword' in one hand and poke at it tentatively with the other, studying it with an expression of acute befuddlement.

Annja had claimed one of the coll-looking swords, but she was not hitting things.
