World Mythology -- Third Period -- Monday

Ghanima had flung open all the classroom windows today, letting in as much fresh air as possible. The desks were gone, replaced with the large fluffy pillows that the students most likely knew to associate with a movie day. Today, however, they'd only be half-right.

"Hello, students," she said once everyone had arrived. "I handwavily was away last week, just getting in this morning, and I understand you had an unfortunate encounter."

"So today, we'll be watching a movie, and then you'll grab some weapons and go outside to reenact it as you like. And yes, you may keep your swords."

[OOC: Going up early in case work eats me. Wait for the fluffy OCD is on the loose!]

"Mint it is," Tahiri agreed. "I promised, after all. Can't go back on a deal."

She glanced around the class with a thoughtful expression on her face. "You've met Firekeeper -- um, Blysse, and Blind Seer, haven't you?"

"I'm holding you to it," he assured her, because he'd spent entirely too much time stuffing himself once everything was done and he swore he could still taste monkey.

At her question, he glanced across the room and nodded. "She knows," he said, taking a wild guess this was what Tahiri was getting at.

"She's really perceptive that way," Tahiri said by way of confirmation, and grinned. "She and I have a few things in common, but that's not one of them, so I'm glad."

"Well, she found out the way you did," Jacob laughed. "It's kind of hard to miss then." What with the whole huge wolf sitting in front of her and all. "Just with less moneyponies."

"And less fog, I imagine," Tahiri added. "So less hallucination. Which makes for a slightly less awkward first impression. They're really good friends of mine, both of them." That statement probably wasn't necessary; the affection in her voice was evident.

"She's cool," Jacob had to agree. "I hadn't actually talked to wolves like them before. My pack's pretty intrigued by it."

"I imagine they would be." Tahiri tucked a lock of hair behind her ear. Then, in a typically abrupt change of subject, "So did you spend all week doing that?"

He blinked and rubbed a hand through his hair, sword forgotten by now. "Yeah, didn't you?"

"Mostly, yeah," Tahiri replied, nodding. "Well, most of the weekend, at least. Only after it was obvious they weren't going to stand down."

Jacob raised an eyebrow. "You thought they'd listen to reason?"

Tahiri shrugged awkwardly. She tended to think about this more now than she had, mostly because she was trying to keep an eye on her more warriorlike instincts. "I'd prefer not to kill indiscriminately. It goes against what we believe as Jedi. Ideally, we're supposed to avoid killing at all if possible, but . . ." Well, how often did ideals ever match up against reality? Every time she asked herself that question, she felt a little older.

"Sure, but... they were kind of killing indiscriminately. Or would have if they could," he pointed out. Jacob's world was a bit too black and white.

Tahiri's world was a lot more black and white through the filter of her Yuuzhan Vong side than through that of her human/Jedi perspective, and she wasn't sure exactly where her Tusken upbringing fit in between them yet. "Attacking indiscriminately, yes," she pointed out, focusing singlemindedly on the Jedi perspective. "Although not at first. The first few days, they were just there, and not a justifiable threat."

"They still weren't up to no good," he reasoned, because he had that luxury. Because those monsters hadn't hesitated and so he didn't. Because all vampires were evil, no matter what kind of charades they played.

That last part wasn't relatively, huh?

Nooooooooot so much, no, and it got Tahiri frowning as she told the Yuuzhan Vong mindset clamoring in her head, agreeing with him, to shut up. (It was nice that she could do that and expect cooperation these days.)

"No, they weren't. But it was only fair to give them a chance to prove otherwise, first."
