Once the library was set up for the day, Sam planted himself at the desk with a notebook, and got back to writing down everything he could remember from the weekend. Sure, his dad had said there was nothing to worry about, but that was what he always said, like it ever had a chance of convincing Sam to leave everything in his dad's hands. If there was even the slightest chance that this whole destiny thing with Lucifer was true, he needed to be ready to stop it...or to make sure people like Dean and Peter knew what to do if he couldn't.

"Yeah, but that's different. I know how to deal with demons." Of course, Lucifer was a really, really big one, but Sam still had skills Claire didn't. "You should have run. If that stuff he said ever turns out to be true, then running is exactly what you should do, as far from me as you can get."

"If there's any chance that could be true, we need to figure out how to prevent it from happening," Claire said.

"My dad's working on it," Sam said. "It's not something you need to worry about, I think, except to know that if it does happen, you shouldn't try to help me."

"You can say that all you want, Sam," Claire said. "But do you really think I'm gonna let something like that happen?"

Sam sighed. "The thing you need to learn about being around our family is that bad stuff happens and there's just no way to stop it," he said. "It's nice that you want to though."

"Hey, it's not like my family is all sunshine and rainbows," Claire pointed out.

"I know," Sam said sheepishly. "But you guys could be okay, if Peter and Nathan are all right."

"And now that we know there is a possibility of the Lucifer thing happening, we can take steps to stop it, right?" Claire asked.

"Yeah, definitely," Sam said, although he didn't know what those steps were. "Don't worry about it though, it's a me thing, not a we thing."

Claire shook her head. "Okay, sure, I won't worry about the possibility of you turning into Lucifer some day. Sure."

Really, Sam?

"You don't need to worry, because my dad's looking out for me, and I have enough worry in me for ten people," Sam insisted.
