"Today we'll be looking at love and deception," Drake said. "In movies, deception is often played for laughs. Take, for example, the movie ~~meta for~~ Never Been Kissed. Twenty-five year old wanna-be reporter Josie was a loser in high school, but sees a chance to have a do-over when she is assigned to pretend to be a high school student and write a story about the students. While she's there, she falls for her English teacher, who thinks she's just 17, and he's not too happy when he finds out the truth. And in ~~meta for~~ 10 Things I Hate About You, the lead character finds out that the guy she's falling in love with was hired by her sister's would-be suitor, because said sister was not allowed to date until her older sister did. This one's an adaptation of The Taming of the Shrew, by William Shakespeare. Willy and me, we go way back.

"Anyway," Drake went on, "both movies end with the lovers reunited, and all is forgiven. But do you think it's possible that someone can deceive another about who they are and cause them pain, yet still have a happy ending?"

Possibly in an attempt to keep his deceptions to a minimum (or maybe because there didn't seem to be much of a point in hiding them anymore anyhow), Warren had ditched the coat today, and was making do with just keeping his wings folded at his back.

Considering the subject matter today, he was maybe even weirdly bemused that today was the day he decided to hit up his classes without hiding.

It wasn't like Joan could ignore the wings folded at her classmate's back.

"Are you an angel?" she whispered.

Forgive her assumption, the only other person with wings she had met was Loki.

Warren blinked up at the girl at that, and then there was a touch of pink gracing his cheeks as he shook his head.

"No," he whispered, "but... you know, everyone seems to think that?"

It was the weirdest thing, really. Kind of flattering, sure. But weird.

"Sorry," Joan apologized, looking somewhat sheepish. "The only other person with wings I ever met is an angel."

Warren gave his shoulders a light shrug, quirking a small smile her way. At least mistaking him for an angel was a step up from that one girl who was more or less ready to pummel him back at the dance.

"Don't worry about it," he replied. "Wings aren't exactly a common commodity for people who aren't."

"Have you met Loki?" Joan wondered. "He's... not what you would expect an angel to be like."

"Loki?" Warren blinked, and then he was shaking his head a little. "That's one of the teachers, right?"

Joan nodded. "He's also the landlord for one of the apartment buildings in town."

An angelic businessman? One of Warren's eyebrows twitched upward at that, but he managed to shrug off the weirdness. This was Fandom. Weirdness happened.

"You figure I should look him up?"

"You could," Joan said with a nod. "I think he goes flying sometimes."

That right there was Warren's, 'oh, really?' face. He busted it out for moments like this, when little plots were percolating in his head.

"I might have to," he decided after a moment. "Thanks."

Joan smiled. "You're welcome. I'm Joan, by the way."

There was that leaning thing again, even though there were no Pants from Hell in sight.

"Those being visible better not mean I'm going to have to run or get hurt soon," Kate remarked, nodding at his wings. Hey, both times she'd seen them there'd been bad stuff happening. She was allowed to be suspicious. In a completely joking way.

"That depends fully and completely on whether or not the professor announces a pop-quiz," Warren replied, grinning a bit. Oh, there was a world of self-consciousness to go along with those wings, today, but he was doing a more or less decent job of hiding that fact.

Kate made a face. "Oh, that would be so wrong for so many different reasons."

"At least it isn't those pants?"

Yes, Warren. Let's do mention the pants-of-trauma again, shall we?

Kate groaned. "Why would you bring that up?"

"Clearly because years of solitude have made me a sick and twisted individual," Warren decided, crossing his arms over his chest and nodding.

A pause.

"And I figured your reaction would be funny."

Kate shot him an exaggerated 'bitch, please' look. "You bastard. Don't make me describe it to you all over again in great detail."

"You say that like you think I've never seen one of those before," Warren pointed out, stifling a laugh there in the middle of the class. "Even if those pants were... Really, really..."

Cue Warren, burying his face in his hand and trying not to groan.

Kate snickered, just barely quietly enough for a classroom setting. Drake wouldn't throw her out for that, would he? "See? It's still totally traumatizing to think about."

"I can't unsee it," Warren mumbled into his palm.

Why? Why, Heaven, why?

Robin did a double take at the wings. "Wow." he said, impressed.

Warren heard that, and glanced in the direction of the... The small, fuzzy frog that had said it.

If you've never seen a somewhat flustered guy with wings blush and attempt to sink a little deeper into his seat, now was totally your chance, Robin.

"Sorry." Robin apologized. "I didn't mean to stare."
