Junior Achievers Meeting

Outside of Dr. Carter's classroom is a neatly handwritten sign which says:

Junior Achievers Meeting

All are welcome.

Tonight's topics include:

1) Parents/Family Weekend
a) JA Meet & Greet?
b) Bake sale?
C) Personal projects?

2) Student Council: Academic Affairs is open

3) Guest speaker: Callisto, on having a FH Fashion Show

4) Words of wisdom from Dr. Carter

5) Any new business

Free food provided.

The door to the classroom is wide open. Inside Angelus sits at one of the front desks. He is busy writing in his notebook. Anyone who peered over his shoulder would see words like "Master" and "slave" in his handwriting. He is also humming a cheery tune.

On Dr. Carter's desk is an open box of peanut butter cookies from Deb's diner. There is also a sign-in sheet.

"Hey, Beks," Angelus said. "Have a cookie. Come sit in my lap. Don't forget to put down if you're just visiting."

"Hey." Beka snagged a cookie, then nodded to Angelus. "Thanks. Not wearing much under the skirt. I'd like to sit through the meeting before making that decision..."

"Totally fine," Angelus indicated a free chair near him. "Could keep me company. Possibly bend over while you're taking that chair"

Beka grabbed the chair and pulled it closer. "Promise not to bore you," she teased, settling into the chair and crossing her legs at the ankles not at all primly. "What're you working on?"

"You haven't yet," Angelus winked at her. He showed her his notes, which right now were sloppy, and covered with things that were crossed out and arrows pointing where he wanted passages to go. "Assignment for Ethics class. I'm one of the TAs, so I'm helping the prof out with something."

"You're not so bad yourself. Except in the very good way." Lips curved into an amused smirk, she looked carefully at the notes, trying to make any sense of what looked like the weird diagrams that appeared on the Sunday night football games she'd failed to be amused by. "Good on Tara for making you a TA. Shows a commitment to personal ethics. I like that." She cocked her head and pointed at some words on the page. "What's that say?"

"When I'm good, I'm very, very good. When I'm bad I'm spectacular. I'm liking the class so far, I'll admit it," Angelus looked at where she was pointing, then quoted, "All school rules must be obeyed at all times."

"Promises, promises. It's a good class. Lots of give and take." Beka pats her hips like she's looking for something. "Shoot, and me without a pocket or a pen. I thought I'd add a 'not' for you." Why do I have the feeling I'm going to hate this assignment?

"Yes, it is a promise. I'm loving all the discussions," Angelus said. "Even the TA work, which sounds so odd for me. Of course I don't trust the teacher as far as I could throw the school building but it's a small price to pay for extra credit and the chance to drop Bio."

"When you're done reading to the blind, then. Truth? You're actually perfect for the TA job. You're nothing if not provocative provocative on the subject. What's not to trust about Tara? Not that I do, mind. Just curious."

"Totally giving up that blind thing. Send a girl flowers and don't even get a phone call? I don't think so. Tara's from Sunnydale, aka my old stomping grounds, aka home of Buffy Summers," Angelus said. "And she works for the Powers now. Um - almighty beings who consider themselves on a side opposite from mine. So it creates what you might call trust issues within me."

"Hey." Beka nodded back, lips curving into a small and private smile. "Nice to see you without the fireballs. But I may be up for practice again later."

"Might be able to arrange that," Belthazor said, still a little agitated after his conversation with Angelus about Phoebe.

"Sounds like you might need to. And your boyfriend might enjoy watching the sport. Something up with Pheebs?" There's a note of concern in her voice, but it's muted by her knowledge that he'd be totally unhappy with anyone calling him emodemon right now.

"She's okay," Belthazor said. "No flowers today. We were talking yesterday about her moving back to the dorms and staying with me." He looked around and dropped his voice. "You don't think she treats me badly, do you?"

"Staying with you would be good. If she stays... I'm going to have to talk to the girls again." Beka's mind whirls with rooming plans and attic space arrangements and creative use of Limbo-magic. "Treats you badly? What brought that on...?"

"Angelus said she does," Belthazor said, scowling. "Don't want to talk about it here, though." He shot Angelus a dark look.

Beka gave Angelus an "I'll take care of this" wink, then turned back to Bel. "Meeting's about over. I'm done talking to Draco and if Angelus wants something he knows how to find me. Want to jet...or shimmer?"
