Library [1-07]

George finished shelving the books quickly and the other little library tasks.  It seemed like there were more on a weekday than Saturday, but he so wasn't going to complain about getting his Saturdays free now.

He settled down behind the desk finally with a mug of hot chocolate (it had been so nice to come back to Fandom and be able to have the stuff again) and a selection of books, some about the US Justice system (thank you, Miss Cabot) and some about famous mobsters.

It was a new semester. Of course Karla was in the library. There was a new play to read and study, new courses to familiarize herself with, new books to read now that she'd overspent on Winsol gifts for everyone...

...A new day for George to be working?

"Kiss kiss,"she said when she noticed him behind the desk. "Hello stranger."

"Me?" Karla protested. "Where did you get that idea? Other than the trip to New York, I've been here all break."

"You did not go with on the trip," Beka said as she found George in the library. She'd not seen him since Midwinter so she decided to track him down and pull his ears if he needed ear pulling.

"It'd have been fun," she said, ignoring his statement. "I caught a pick pocket."

After his lunch break, Henry decided he ought to introduce himself to a fifth aide. He'd seen the young man when he came in the morning, but George was in class the next time he'd looked, and then there were floorplans to draw and lunch to eat...

So it was early afternoon before he emerged to, rather sheepishly, introduce himself. "Henry DeTamble," he said, offering a hand. "New librarian. You're George, aren't you? I had paperwork somewhere."

"I definitely exist," Henry said. "You're the second aide I've met who never saw Dr. Jones, so I can't speak for him."

Interesting way to run a library, in Henry's opinion, but he was starting to believe his predecessor might have been invisible or transformed into an inchworm for months before anyone noticed or hired a replacement.

"The paperwork's ... about what you would expect when a job's been a revolving door. I got an aide schedule, though. No gremlins. Should I ask what you mean by gremlins?"

Kyle arrived in the afternoon with a paper bag that smelled suspiciously like cookies. He put it on the desk and called "hey" before wandering off to the shelves to find a particular book. He returned less than a minute later.

Nodding, Kyle leaned against the desk. "I haven't finished this one yet." He thumbed through the pages, hoping he could remember everything since he hadn't read the book in a good few months. It wasn't anything advanced, but he'd come a long way from the boy who couldn't read a sentence. "Brought you some cookies. I was in town."

Bobby walked into the library, math workbook tucked under one arm. His other hand, well... it was the strangest thing. All of a sudden, when he'd been walking, his ears had started to feel as if they were burning. So his other hand was currently rubbing at an ear, trying to make the feeling go away.

"Hey, man," he greeted, plopping the workbook down on the returns counter. "What's up?"

Suuuuure he didn't.

"Well we are in a school, George," Bobby pointed out. To be fair, he'd never really shown himself to be interested in any sort of studying before this. "It's generally part of what goes on."

Kyle returned from the other side of the library and sat down on his stool. "Hey."

"Yo," Bobby greeted. "I'm not interrupting some, like, secret library aide meeting, am I?"

And lo, there was a Henry in his office. He should have been cataloguing; in fact, he was sketching out floorplans for how he wanted his new apartment to look. He was totally available for interruption.
