It was time for the holiday with the food, and Anemone was torn. On one hand, she could have a long weekend at home with Dominic and the Izumo crew. On the other.... food.

Today the library aide was curled up behind her desk, reading books on various Thanksgiving traditions. She totally needed to find some way to convince Those In Power at Home that Thanksgiving ought to be added back into the calendar.

Anemone stared at her. "Master Skywalker, right? Robes, repression issues, and a big softie under it all? Do you really think he isn't that paranoid?"

She looked back at the baby and shrugged. "Sorry sir, but it's true and you know it."

If Azula was the type, she would have face palmed. "Of course. Don't take it against me, Master Skywalker, but you make an entirely too accurate machine."

Anemone shrugged, giving the baby a quick pat on the back.

"He's a sadist," she agreed with the easy acceptance of someone who'd had three years of flight club and flying classes with him. "But that's what makes him a challenging teacher."

"True," Azula said, "I can appreciate that, I just wished it wasn't this assignment. Explosions, blood, Machiavellian plots I can manage. Children? I can't even understand them."

"Think of them like cats. They want attention and food, but if you fuss too much, they get cranky." This? This was why Anemone's alternate universe child was just as strange as her mothers. "If it doesn't need changing, try to feed it. If it doesn't want food, put it down for a nap."

"That's a very good analogy," Azula said. Better than Dinah's rubber ball one. "Think of it as a pet, huh?"

Azula can actually see this working if she thinks of the baby as a pet.

"Pretty much, except you can't use sharp things like keys as toys."

"And I was so looking forward to doing just that," she replied with a smirk.

"You could always pick up a few picture books while you're here," Anemone pointed out as she started selecting (http://www.amazon.com/Babys-First-Dummies-Lifestyles-Paperback/dp/0764584200/ref=pd_bxgy_b_text_b) a few books for Azula. "Then if it won't shut up and sleep, you've got a story right there to use on it, and you can honestly say you tried."

"Excellent idea," Azula said, taking the books with her free hand.
