Anakin stalked into the room precisely on time and shut the door firmly behind him. "Today we talk about wrath," he said. "There's something very human about giving in to our temper," he said. "It's freeing, uncomplicated."

He paused. "At least at that moment. The repercussions are always waiting."

He waved a hand and the holoprojector flipped to life. Frozen in time was a young Jedi with two lightsabers at the neck of an older, clearly defeated enemy. The students might remember the scenario from a few weeks ago.

"This was me," he said, pointing at the young man. "And that older man was evil and threatened my family. It didn't make the choice I made--to kill him while he knelt there--any less wrong."

He looked around the classroom making eye contact with every student before continuing. "Wrath is very, very tempting. It urges you to listen to that dark little voice inside of you--to cut loose, live without consequences."

He pointed at the holo again. "There are always consequences. This moment has stayed with me, made me the person I am. It wasn't a positive influence."

Anakin stopped pacing. "What would it take for you to get to that hazy edge? And more importantly, how do you stop yourself from giving in?"

"If they're sick and injured, it's not going to be terribly hard to take 'em out," Rose pointed out. "And I don't care why they're trying to hurt my Moroi, I'm fighting them and doing what ever is necessary to protect her." She shrugged.

"I do not understand what Moroi is," Raven said. "Is that your leader? A family member?"

"They the people I protect," Rose said. Will protect in six months or so, whatever. "But that doesn't matter so much. If it was oh, I dunno, Bobby or someone, it still would be the same."

"I understand that sometimes killing an opponent is necessary," Raven said, "but do you truly think it necessary to kill a conquered enemy?"

"Keeps them from threatening my people again," Rose pointed out. "Should I just smack them down and figure they learned their lesson?"

"I did not say you need trust them," Raven said, "but I think mercy is a quality to be treasured." She shook her head. "I am sorry that your life has led you to believe otherwise." It was a sincere statement, not sarcasm.

Rose snorted, the statement, sincere or not, ruffling her feathers. "I don't want your sympathy. I'm sure mercy has its place and shit, but not when you're in a war."

"And I am a healer, not a warrior," Raven said. "I apologize, I did not intend to upset you."
