Ethics [Thursday, November 4, 1st period]

"Love is patient, love is kind," Anakin began, looking down at his notes, then snorted and made the universal symbol for "blah, blah, blah" with his hand.

He might secretly be a soft touch on the subject, but he was hoping no one in the room would call him on it.

"In my version of the Jedi Order, we were taught that in order to maintain the proper distance necessary to negotiate impartially across our galaxy, we were to strive for serenity, not passion. To be Jedi, we should not know anger, or hatred...or love. When we were very small children, we were raised in the Temple so that family loyalty or planetary allegiance would not get in the way of following the will of the Force."

He crossed his arms over his chest, the ring on his left hand gleaming in the light, and glanced around the room. "Is this an unreasonable standard to hold someone to? Can you stop someone from falling in love? What do you think they were trying to prevent?"

"Love can make you do some pretty stupid s- uh, stuff," Bobby shrugged. "I guess they figured it was easier than teaching people how to deal with their feelings."

Raven glanced Bobby's way. She was pretty sure he was another one she needed to apologize to.

The blush that crept up on Bobby's cheeks at the glance probably pretty much confirmed that.

Really, if it were possible for him to melt, he probably would be doing that right about now.

In a valiant attempt to make it seem like he was totally fine with everything, though, he offered Raven a slight smirk. That... probably wasn't gonna fool an empath, Bobby. Nice try.

Raven bit her lip. She'd approach Bobby later; she didn't want to risk making a scene in class.

"That won't necessarily stop it from happening," Elena said. "It only means that your underlings will conceal it from you, when it does. That makes matters worse."

"Or what if someone like, only shows up for class on the days that are all about not feeling love, and never gets the 'not feeling hate' lessons?" Bobby suggested.

"I'd imagine it's taught on the same days," Elena said. "Besides, telling people not to hate is just as dangerous if you don't teach them how to deal with hate. They'll just repress it and hope it goes away, and it won't."

"The different days thing was just an exaggeration, or whatever," he barely resisted the urge to roll his eyes. "I just meant there's some people out there who are pretty hate-filled, you know? And dealing with those people sucks big-time."
