George had pulled out a big book full of hockey statistics and pictures.

He was looking way more at the pictures, yeah, but he had managed to discover that the lines on the ice weren't just to coordinate with the uniforms.  He'd have to tell Sookie.

"I'm not," she dropped the book, satisfied with getting a hit in now. "So do they have maps here?"

"So what are ye?" he asked, sliding the books out of the way quickly. "An' aye, of course."

"Making sure you keep your nose clean," she said stubbornly. "I'd like to see ones of this world and where we're going tomorrow. Are you going?"

"Already got a mam," George scowled. "An' ye already got a little brother so don' be treatin' me like one."

"I've got two," she corrected, sommat seemed off about the statement. "They're much better behaved than you are, so you've no need to worry that I'm getting confused."

And then the thing that was strange struck her. "I never told you I've got brothers."

"That makes 'em sound borin'," George teased. He shrugged. "Yer Beka Cooper."

She made a face at him. "If you knew who I am, you'd have known it from the start."

"Mayhap I did," he smirked.

"And yet you're surprised I'm friends with the Rogue," she pointed out. That'd be the part they'd like best. A Dog being friends with the Rogue.

He shrugged then gave her a sweet smile. "Or mayhap I'm just cracknobbed."

"There's no mayhap about it," she assured you. "You are."

"Ye don' think that," he said, starting over towards the maps for her.

"I know that," she agreed as she followed him. "You never answered."

"About which?" George asked.

"Both of them," she insisted. She was curious now.

He glanced over at her. "Aye, we've maps."

She had the urge to thwap him again. "Are you going on the trip?"

Deciding he'd tormented her enough, George grinned. "I am," he agreed. "Someone needs t'be makin' sure ye behave."

"And you're the person to keep anyone behaved," she agreed, wrinkling her nose at him.

He laughed and shook his head. "I can be keepin' people in line," he argued.

"You're just not certain which line you're keeping them on," she told him.

"Says you?" George asked. "Which lines d'ye think 'm confused about?"

"One that'd please the Crooked God," she said instantly. She moved to stand beside him so she could read the labels on the books.

"Always lookin' t'please th' Gods a course," George smirked, giving her a sidelong glance. "Me mam raised me well."

"She did," Beka agreed and she reached up to grab the maps of Virginia. "Mayhap you're just a hopeless."
