Library Open - 10/17

Wait, could it be the librarian? Apparently, he's decided that he's going to be vivisected for accidentally attacking a student, and has shown his nose face at school again. He swings open the doors and settles behind the collections desk. He's got an MP3 player and earphones and is tapping away on the computer.

RC enters the library and runs her fingers along a line of books on human psychology. She finds the one she's looking for and opens it up. What remains of the human Samantha Carter in her likes the ability to read words slowly instead of download information directly into her systems. She smiles and leans against the shelf.

Janet eyes Eighth warily and wonders what the hell she's doing in that section.

And then she sneezes.

"Kleenex?" RC says as she offers a tissue.

"Uh, thanks," says Janet, accepting the tissue gingerly. She sneezes again and blows her nose, then throws the tissue away. Wow. Talk about awkward. "Sorry about the window," she says. Well, she's been apologizing to everyone else for Hathor's actions, so why not the evil Replicator adult twin of her best friend?

"Easy to fix. Good to know you're alive, though," she says quietly.

Janet has no idea what to say and pops a candy and chocolate covered espresso bean in her mouth as a delaying tactic. She's about to offer one to Eighth when she remembers who she's talking to and that she's nonorganic and probably doesn't eat.

How many of these has she had today anyway? She doesn't really remember. She should probably cut back, but pops another one in her mouth.

"Alive is good," says Janet quietly. "Sam took care of it. Didn't really feel like dying again, you know?"

Why is she having this conversation? Like her life wasn't confusing enough? Janet sneezed again and grabbed another tissue. The watering in her eyes was all allergies. Really.

Eighth feels a little sad that Janet doesn't offer her a chocolate covered espresso bean as she remembers eating an entire bag of them once with Janet a couple of years back. But, she's used to the "omg you're a robot!" treatment by now so this angst will soon pass.

"Yeah, death is kinda uncomfortable. I've done the whole dying thing myself too." She shifts from one foot to the other.

"Have you checked in with the clinic about your allergies?"

Janet unobtrusively slips the espresso beans back into her bag as best she can and tries to feel like she didn't make some sort of unknown mistake. Whatever. Not like you're not making a million of them these days anyway.

She gives Eighth a look that says she has a very good idea of how many times Sam's died, and therefore how many-- "Wait, since the whole--" She stops, uncomfortable, but the silence is quickly filled by a series of sneezes.

Eighth sounds kind of concerned--on the other hand, she also said that either Sam or Janet would be going out of her classroom on a stretcher. Janet blows her nose and blinks up at her. "I got flowers," she says by way of explanation. "Lots of them. It overloaded my antihistamines. I'll be fine as soon as the histamines clear out of my immune system."
