Fencing Club - Salle, After Classes Monday

Again Edmund was in early and setting up for the club. He waited for everyone to arrive before addressing them. "Using a sword rarely comes naturally. You have to put effort into it, but you also have to work at your own pace to learn the fundamentals. If you want to practice the footwork drills from last week, please move over to my left and have at it. Experienced swordsmen...women...people," he fumbled, "who wish to use the time to spar head down the back. Everyone else will be practising a few defence exercises. We'll get to the attacking part next week."

Edmund demonstrated a few defence drills. "There you have it. If you need me to run through them with you, wave me over."

Like mingling things that mingle.

Fiona showed up of course, and resolved herself to try and be social today.

"Fiona," Azula said, nodding to the other girl.

Fiona gave the other girl a nod and a smile.

"Good day, Azula."

"Having an interesting week?" She asked, discarding the question about school for a broader one.

"Somewhat?" she admitted with a hand through her hair.

"Nothing out of the ordinary for here. I had a good bout on Sunday, though. And my brother has been complaining about his classes."

"Your brother is also in this school?"

She shook her head with a faint smile.

"I wish. No, Eliot's at another school. We text each other a lot, though. And email."

"Text?" She asked, puzzled. Another new term for her to learn. Email she learned from Dinah, Text however was puzzling unless it was another word for written mail.

She held up a finger and walked over to her bag, where she pulled out her Blackberry.

"We both have one of these," she explained, "and I can send him quick written messages on it whenever I want."

"Really?" Azula said. "Bobby spoke to me about a cellphone device. Is this it?"

Fiona held up the Blackberry with a quick nod.

"This is one of them. I didn't have one before I came here either, but it's really helpful."

Azula studied it and marveled, "It's... so small."

She nodded.

"There are smaller ones, but this one does a lot of stuff."

"Smaller than this?" Azula's first thought was: How was it even possible?; the second one immediately after the first: Can the Fire Nation replicate the technology? "What's the advantage of this above the others?"

Fiona nodded.

"Yes. It's got a few more functions, some memory to save pictures or songs, a camera, a few other things. Most of them just send and receive calls and texts."

Turtle was wondering if she was re-energized enough to take on some fencing, but she knew her own limits and decided she'd just take it easy today.

Emma was there, and ready to get a work-out today. Hopefully someone would be willing to spar.

Azula crossed her arms and she studied the other people in the club before she turned her attention to Edmund and listened.

Lion-o was in a pretty good mood and looking forward to doing some more drills.

Dinah was ready for another spar this afternoon, bouncing on her toes, and looking around.

Ellie was there and ready to try some more drills. She knew she was not quite ready to try sparring, yet.

Rose was coming directly from her afternoon training session again so she arrived a little late. But that did not deter her from being there. And mingling.

Zayne arrived and was once again way too happy to get to use his modified practice sword. He was a massive geek.

Liz was there and mingling.
